Chapter 8

Benji's POV

Benji walked down the hall, thinking about Elaine, "Ah, her eyes are so beautiful. Her walk is so graceful. I think I'm in love," as he walked through the hall an idea struck him, "Maybe if I am Elaine's age, she'll like me too. I heard from some of the other students that had been talking that someone could trap you outside time, or something?" He rushed to the library and grabbed some books for him to read, so if he was stuck outside time for a while, so he wouldn't get bored.

After he had asked around, he figured out where she was last seen and started heading down the hallway to Vivian's next class. When he came across a raven-haired kid on the ground sleeping and a line of blood leading somewhere. He shook the kid until he woke up, "What's going on?" the kid asked, "I should be asking you the same question, why is there a line of blood?" Benji replied. The kid looked around then Benji helped him up, "My names Benji, yours?" "John, John Doe," he replied. They followed the trail of blood to a supply closet where they found a girl tied up, and a red head in a pool of blood, starting from his eyes. "What happened!" cried John he went down to Adam,

"Adam wake up, Benji he's losing too much blood"

"What about the girl?"

"We don't have time, she'll be fine."

John and Benji rushed Adam to the med bay. "Back so soon," the nurse stated before seeing what had happened. "How did he get in this critical condition?" he asked. John fear in his eyes said, "I don't know, Benji found me passed out, after an attack from Vivian."

"You may have found him just in time, he seems to have a blood loss induced coma. He may never wake up..."

Adam's POV

"Wake up, wake up." A familiar voice cried "Come on, wake up sleepy head." Adam opened his eyes to see Wendy in a desk, "What time is it?" he asked.

"All you need to know is class is over, come on it's time for P.E."

"Oh ok, I had the weirdest dream."

"Well it's over now, I can't believe you slept through all of history class."

"You know me, I was never any good at history Wendy"

As they were walking to P.E. Wendy initiated conversation, "So are we still on for the mall this afternoon?"

"Yeah we are, I don't know why you hang out with me."

"You may be a cripple, but I've known you sense grade school, I couldn't just ditch my best friend like that. I know most people are against it, but there was just something about you that made me stick around."

Adam's father walks into the house from a long day at work,

"Son, I need to talk to you and your sister,"

"Sure, can it wait till after dinner?"

"Ok, but don't let me forget, this is a life changer!"

Adam's father said, "Now, that I dinner is over may I have everyone's attention. I got a special offer from my boss today. They know about our special situation and were wondering if they could use you two for an experiment."

"What's this experiment?"

"Well as you know I work at NXGen, and they are striving to understand abilities. Thanks to your sister being a twin, and the fact that her ability boosts others. They were thinking that maybe your ability genes are lying dormant, they think with some simple Gene splicing with your twin and you may be able to have an ability Adam."

"REALLY, please tell me you aren't joking dad, it's been my dream to have an ability, when could they do this. I have to tell Wendy"

"No son, no one could know until it was over."
