⚠️HUGE TRIGGER WARNING, MENTIONS/DEPICTIONS OF ABUSE AND DEPICTIONS OF DEATH⚠️

Okay, before you read this, just know that this doesn't have a whole lot of Hermione x reader. More on that after the chapter.

"STOP RUNNING YOU INSUFFERABLE BRAT!" He ran faster, his short legs working hard to stay ahead of me.

He ran around a couch and instead of following him, I jumped over it and stopped him in his tracks.

"Gotcha now you little beast!" I picked him up and carried him on my shoulder, his laughs echoing throughout the house.

"Put me down!" He shouted, still laughing.

"You want me to put you down huh?" He laughed even harder and started shouting "yeah" over and over as I made my footsteps bouncy. Finally I dropped him on the couch and we both burst with more laughter.

Then, the figure at the doorway cleared her throat. We both stopped immediately and straightened up, eyes on the ground.

I thought she was out.

"Are you quite done?" The stern woman asked.

"Yes ma'am." Our voices said together.

"Wonderful. Did you do the chores I instructed you to complete?"

We nodded in unison, eyes still trained on the ground and backs still stiff. Well, mine was anyway, the day his back was stiff would be the day I lost my sanity.

"And you did your homework?" We froze. I knew my homework was done, but I also knew that Corbin had not finished his.

This is not good.

.....

"Hey Y/n, is something wrong?" I was snapped back into reality.

"Hmm? What, no. No nothings wrong, I just spaced out for a minute. What were you saying?"

I knew I hadn't convinced her, she moved a little closer and looked me right in the face. "What's wrong?"

I sighed, "I was just thinking about my life before Hogwarts, before you. I know I don't talk about it much, I just don't like to think about it."

Hermione's eyes became sad. She knew that if I was ready I would talk about what happened in my youth, but it was a painful memory. My hand subconsciously went to the scar on my face as I remembered that day more clearly.

.....

As we stood there, heads down, hands behind our backs, fear coming off us in waves, the scowling woman already knew the answer.

"So its a no then."

She walked off, we knew if we moved we were good as dead, so we stayed deathly still. I was beginning to hyperventilate, I could hear Corbin's quite sobs.

He didn't deserve this, he's only five. It's my fault we were playing in the first place. I was bored, we both were. I suggested we play a game.

I thought she was out.

Her footsteps echoed loudly, like bass drums in our ears as she returned.

"Come here Y/N." She tapped her foot impatiently as I slowly approached.

When I finally reached her the sound of a belt buckle shifting made my ears prick up a little, honing in on the horrifying clicks it made.

"Turn around." I did as I was told, looking up to see Corbin with fear in his eyes.
