A/N: the fluff is GONE 😂

~

It's safe to say that the date day was a success.

When we got back home afterwards, Camila and I chilled for the rest of the day and watched some more movies together.

It was now currently the next day, and Lauren and I were preparing to go to another NA meeting.

We wanted to say goodbye to everyone, especially Demi, because there was no need for us to attend anymore.

"Should we bring her a gift or something?" Lauren asked. "I dunno, I feel like she deserves something for putting up with us both."

I laughed a bit. "We'll mail her a gift card or something. I have her address."

With that, we both ate a quick breakfast of cereal, and were ready to head out.

"Mila, we'll be back." I shouted, receiving a tired grunt of approval her.

Lauren and I took our usual route to the meeting. We walked down the block, enjoying the sunrise since it was still pretty early in the morning.

It felt like ages since we showed our faces at the NA. So much shit had happened between the last meeting to where we were then.

But I was certain that things were going to be alright from now on.

Both Lauren and I had done something not many people could be able to do.

We became sober, and we sure as hell were enjoying our lives being so.

"Dinah," Lauren spoke, pulling me out of my thoughts. "we should also really start looking for some jobs too, after we're done at the meeting."

Oh shit.

I mean, having a job was basically the key to not failing at life, so I guess Lauren and I had no choice but to actually try and get one.

And besides, Camila couldn't provide for us for the rest of her life.

But which facility would even accept sad individuals with horrible resumes and zero college reputa-?

"McDonalds." I stated. "We'll go see if McDonalds is hiring after this."

Lauren scrunched her face up in disgust. "But Dinah-"

"No buts." I pointed a finger at her. "C'mon, we're gonna be late."

We continued to make our way down the block, and took a left at the next light.

Next thing you know, we're standing in front of the very building that started it all.

I smiled at it. This place meant a lot to me.

That day, I would be saying goodbye to it. It had done its purpose in my life.

Lauren and I both walked in, and headed towards the NA meeting room.

"I wonder how many of our old friends are gonna be here." Lauren said. "It feels like it's been such a long time, so maybe some of them are finally sober too."

As we walked into the meeting room, we were met by sad and emotional faces rather than welcoming ones.

I noticed right away that Demi wasn't there. Her usual seat in front of everybody was left vacant.

"Hey guys?" I greeted confusedly. "Where's Demi?"

Someone cleared their throat before speaking.

"She passed this morning. The paramedics said that she was found dead in her home after overdosing on heroin."

I remember blanking our for a moment, trying to comprehend those words.
