Looking directly at him, I ask, "Is Alpha Samuel going after Jessa because he's her mate?"
He doesn't hesitate.
"Yes."
...
Blake's P.O.V.
My heart pounds in my chest at his words. Jessa has a mte. With everything going on lately, she doesn't need this. Maybe he's not as bad as everyone says?
Then I remember Jessa's wide, frightened eyes as she looked at him.
My ass, he's not that bad.
Witb a reputation that speaks for itself and quite a past, he'll destroy her. Anything left over will be unfixable.
At the same time though, Jessa kept what Tristan did to her a secret for longer than I'd like. Actually, I would have liked it if she hadn't kept it a secret at all. But I honestly don't know how she did that. She didn't tell anyone, which still makes me mad, but I know she took care of herself as best she could. That takes strength I know most girls don't have.
I don't mean to sound sexist or anything, but the girls I know cry at a broken nail... and they also drape themselves over half the male population, so they aren't the people to compare my little sister with.
I'm just worried about her. Alpha Samuel is more than capable of hurting her, and I don't know what I would do to him if he hurts her.
Fantasizing about the different ways I can kill him in wolf and human form, my wolf growls in appreciation and I chuckle. We share the same dark humor.
I reach into my back pocket and pull out my phone, dialing Jessa.
"Blake," my dad says.
I lower the phone from my ear and turn around to face him.
I scowl at him, "What?"
His face hardens into a mask of indiference and I immediately know I won't like whatever he's going to say.
"Stop worrying about Jessamine. She has found her mate. Let them handle it."
My hand not holding my phone curls into tight fist, his words igniting yet another roaring inferno I don't feel like containing.
"'Let them handle it?' Did you see Jessa run AWAY from him? Or are you blind, because I'm sure the last thing she wants is to be alone with him. Especially after what she's been through."
Mom steps in front of Dad to look at me, "Honey, your Dad is right. We both know what she's had to go through, but finding her mate is a good thing, and we need to let her figure that out on her own."
I love my mother, she is soft and sweet, but she knows when it's time for blood and gore.
"She's been through everything on her own. She doesn't have to do this alone too. She should have people by her side who actually care about her. Unlike Dad." My voice is unyielding.
Dad narrows his eyes and takes a threnening step towards me, which I don't back down to.
I'm not fifteen anymore.
"Jessamine can take care of herself. She will get over it once she understands that he is her mate." He says cooly, anger radiating off him in dominating waves.
Our eyes lock on each other and can see his wolf pushing to change. Eyes slowly dilating, I can tell he's fighting his wolf hard.
"The only thing Jessa will understand, is that her own father and Alpha, betrayed her. I guess it's time for her to see who you really are. She should know how you bur-"
