Adapting

Mia

I was beginning to realize,  I had only one option. Which was to adapt quickly to my new situation.

After a few minutes of silence, Francisco quickly stands. "Come. I will show you now to your room." He says and holds the door open for me to exit.

"Thank you Mr. Francisco" I say.

We begin to walk towards the stairs when Francisco stops walking, and turns to speak to me.

"Please call me Francisco, it's not necessary for you to call me Mr"

"Ok... Francisco." I say, and We once again continue walking and taking the long stairs to the second floor. On the second floor, we either can take a left or a right turn towards the hallways. We take a turn to the left side.

When we are passing the first door, he points at it.

"That's the bosses room. Please never disturb him. If you need anything I will always be available."

Next to the bosses room was another another door.

"This is your room. Come in, it should have clothes for you. And this is the bathroom, it should also have anything that you might need. There's also a television, I really don't watch much so I don't know how to really work the remote. If there anything you are missing or need, please let me know." He says.

With that he walks out leaving me alone inside this huge room, which is dripping in luxury. I really didn't remember how my room or family house was, but I was pretty sure, this was the first time I was in a place like this. The bed was a king size. Everything was between cream white and pink with some gold.

A beautiful new prison.

There's a knock on the door.

"Come in"  I say.

A girl around the same age as me comes in with a tray of food.

"Hello, I'm Mari," She gives me a sweet smile. " I brought you food and drinks."

With the delicious smell my stomach started rumbling.

"Thank you, Mari. I'm starving"

she stares at me, giving me the feeling of a lost puppy.

"So... what's your name? Where are you from? Are you the bosses new N.A?" She continues asking a million questions per minute.

I felt a panic attack. What was I supposed to tell the workers again?

"I... I.. I'm Mia" I blinked and blinked I remembered my name!!!

"Well, okay... hi Mia. " Now she was looking at me with a confused look. "Are you going to answer the rest of my questions?"

Okay... She was kind of pushy.

"what's N.A?" I ask.

And she starts laughing, as if I had just asked the most hilarious question.

" New ass!! He has a new girlfriend every time he comes back from out of town"

So the handsome boss is a many women's man! Not really a surprise. He looks too hot to be single.

" No. I'm not one of them. I'm just here, because I know his family, and I'm having some memory problems and Marcus is going help me with my issues" I bit on my lower lip not knowing what else to add to the lie.

she made a face. Which I wonder if she believed me or just felt petty for the horrible story I just told her.

"Wow yeah... Marcus is a great doctor. I bet in no time, he'll make your memory come back! And... bonus he's so sexy!" I had to agree with her Marcus is really attractive.

"Well, I think your boss is better looking!"

With my quick confession, we both start laughing so hard. I don't even think my laughter was due to what I just said being funny... but rather a nervous laugh, just thinking of how things are quickly changing for me.

"We are going to be great friends! For a moment, after you said you were not the N.A I thought you were after my sexy Marcus!" She giggles.

Wow! ok. Now I had to agree with her. We could truly become good friends.

"Is he your boyfriend?"

More laughter from her.

" I wish! I'm studying to become a nurse! I think after that, our love for the medical field will unite us for ever!" She hugs herself pretending to be hugging... sexy Marcus?

" Wow yeah! I can totally picture you in the future marrying him, I can practically hear little Mari's and little Marcus's running around this place." I wink at her, and she shook her head in agreement.

"Oh yeah... totally a bunch of those!"

After Mari left my room, I decided to take a long bath. My body was aching. And I seriously didn't remember when was the last time I took a bath.

Inside the bathroom there was all my necessary things. I brushed my teeth, and found some confortable pjs. I felt my body finally able to relax and to bed I went.

I woke up by the nightmares I had. It was all
as if I was back in the hell hole and explosions going off, some gunfire.  I covered my ears and reminded myself I was safe. The boss, the handsome boss will keep me safe.
