The colors mixed all over the avenues of Nova Lucia, also called the Holy capital. Despite this name, the city had it's fair share of sinners all over it, the majority of them in the suburbs. Still, if you walked down the alleyways in the heart of this giant mass of buildings you could find any kind of ruffians: prostitutes, dealers.... It was all a matter of where you went and when, because the police would watch over certain areas religiously.
Elijah stepped outside his building, nervous like the first day he arrived there. He stood up visually, but for the citizens he was just another apprentice in the ways of the Good Book. He wore all black, with a silver crest over his heart. People respected the office enough to not to try to mess with his kind, even though he didn't look big enough to respond to violence.
With quick feet, he walked across the Saint Crossing, one of the safest and most memorable spots in the whole city, it was postcard worthy and the locals knew it. You could see some shops still open even at night time, something normal in a big place.
"We offer discounts for Silver Crests!!" Said a girl while giving the boy a pamphlet with a smile. She looked really cute and her smile seemed genuine. Elijah gave a glance to the paper: it was a food joint, a fast food one. He had never tried fast food in his entire life and he remembered that he didn't have a dinner. He was tempted.
And his stomach growled with hunger.
He entered awkwardly, the local was decent, waiters in orange uniforms attended the client's with great efficiency. It was not full, but it had enough people t ohave some kind of background noise. He first sat on a table, like he did in the tavern of his hometown and tried to look like he knew what he got himself into. In the moment, almost like some kind of summoning a tangerine orange uniform came to him, booklet in hand, the logo of the chain all over it. The menu was simple and it didn't look real.
After ordering a burger and water he noticed one obvious thing. He really did stood out, not only because of him being a Silver Crest, it also was because of him being a kid from the mountains. While waiting for his food he tried to look around without dying a bit inside, he felt eyes all over him.He was not used to that.
The meal was Okay, the tummy stopped complaining so it was good. He was going to pay when a lady came by and gave her money to the cashier. He was confused. The worker treated it like something normal and took the money. He turned to the lady, she was young, but older than him. She pointed to fingers outwards and leaned against them with closed eyes, the pose of The Good Book faith.
"May the one in the heavens bless your soul" He whispered in response.
The woman nodded in silence and went back to her spot, in a full table. The apprentice did a little signal and got out of the site. He was surprised to no end. In his town lost in the middle of nowhere no one paid his meals apart of his family and master. To think that in a big and unfamiliar place someone would simply pay for him. He was extremely grateful.
Putting his hands into the pockets of the black tunic, he decided to go back to his room, maybe with a satiated appetite he was going to be able to sleep.
The moment in which he laid down on the bed, his world went dark and the noise stopped.
