The subway was was packed full. Despite that, Elijah entered.
One stop before his destination he felt a tap on his shoulder, he turned his head and he saw a now familiar face. It was Antonio. They both waited until they had to get off, since the idea of talking there surrounded by what looked like the half of the population wasn't attractive. Both had the same conversation in mind, it was the topic of theday or maybe week.
Once they got to the stop they both headed to the exit without saying a word, but keeping the same pace and next to one another. The moment in which they got outside, Antonio looked at Elijah.
"You heard it too, right? Is all over the news."
Elijah nodded, the conversation he had with Uriel came back to him, it was a gruesome death too.
"They said it was a Golden Crest student. I know that feeling over whelmed isnormal, some even take a break or just leave... But..." Antonio's voice was cracking like crazy.
"I know how you feel. He did that to himself, there is no use on getting anxious about it. But somehow, despite that, I feel bad too." He took a deep breath, he was calmer, maybe thanks to the small talk he had with his roomie.
"I'm fine, a bit stressed out, but ok. Elijah, can I ask you for one thing?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"If you ever feel ... bad, please. Don't do it. Just tell me, alright?"
"Alright, same goes for you then. We are together in this, yes?" Antonio smiled to Elijah.
After that exchange had finished, they both relaxed a bit. The shorter one was speaking with enthusiasm again, like nothing happened. He mentioned that he found out about a restaurant in which they served Northern foods, whose owners where also from their region. It looked like a good place to eat if they wanted to hang out for one day or just have a meal. Elijah talked about his roommate, avoiding to bring back the suicide subject.
"He sounds cool enough, now I want to meet him in person!"
The hours flew and nothing out of the ordinary happened, at least in the first year Silver Crest class. The police was investigating the Golden Crest's places, maybe in the search of a note or some kind of death will.
The ywere searching in every classroom of the same category, never focusing in one single desk. The name of the deceased was still kept private and due to the lack of regular attendance by some of that kind of students, people were trying to find out who it was. Some of the apprentices started to do polls and most of the results pointed to a pupil named "Miguel".
"I don't know, he got kicked out for beating up an upperclassman, right?"
"He killed himself just for that?"
"If it ends up being him, I am not even surprised"
The voices were cruel, some of them even joked about it.
"Everyone!" A voice raised in the halls, echoing. A young woman with her face partially covered in bandages rose up. "I know what he did was wrong, but he doesn't deserve to die! I, Anastasia Marama, believe in the forgiveness taught to us by the sacred texts! "
The students cheered to the girl, some of them even saying sorry. She was beaten by the one that she called friend sometime ago, but despite that, she wasn't showing any resentment.
Elijah looked at her in awe, she was the one who changed the hate and bitterness of the insults towards admiration. She was like a moon showing up in what it looked like a dark night.
