A thrilling demise

I'm on the road trip of a lifetime
I only feel the rush
The adrenaline pumping through my veins
The muted morning hush.

I free fall to the ground
Life at the extreme
Saved by a single cord
You hear my hollow screams.

I'm hauntingly retrieved
Like a small rag doll
The child baring my fate
Has barely learnt to crawl.

The cord is snapped
My life is sold for good
It's nothing new to me
Although it really should.

A burst of ice cold spray
The current is too strong
I tumble into water
I never did belong.

I'm stolen by the tides
Only one of many
I shall make new friends here
Who knows? I might make twenty
