Kyle sat in the middle of his king sized bed, it was much too big for a eight year old but his father insisted that he would grow into it. It was late at night and Kyle was only up to draw in the new sketchpad he'd gotten for his birthday, he was no prodigy but Kyle believed that if he kept practicing he would eventually get better and even if he didn't he would still continue drawing as that was his passion even at a young age. Kyle looked up from his drawing to look out the window into the night. Auran wasn't the prettiest countries, trash littered the streets, the homeless overtook every corner, and just simply going to the store could result In getting mugged or even worse, murdered. The Flavius family was rumored to be the only rich family in the whole country, some say that they came from a family of wealthy roman emperors. Kyle dreamed of being an emperor, he imagined sitting in a tall castle filled to the brim with toys, he imagined playing outside with his twin Corrian in a garden full of flowers that filled the air with a sweet scent. Kyle knew this was nothing but a simple fantasy but still held onto hope that one day he would rule a place much happier than Auran.
Kyle yawned and rubbed his sleep filled eyes, he didn't want to go to sleep just yet but knew that he wouldn't be able to stay up much longer. He hopped off his bed and made his way across the room to grab a snack from the kitchen. He was pretending he was a jungle adventure, dashing and weaving through his toys pretending they were sleeping lions.
By the time he made it to the door he was out of breath from hopping across the room. He reached for the knob of the door but before he could open it himself, it swung open from the other side knocking Kyle to the ground. Kyle looked up to see his twin sister Corrian looking down at him, an angry scowl took form on her face.
Corrian had woken up to use the bathroom and noticed that one of her prized tiaras were missing from it's glass shelf, She instantly knew that it was Kyle who had taken it.
She opened her mouth, prepared to yell at her twin who was on the floor at her feet when they heard a crash coming from the living room.
The twins heads snapped in the direction of the sound as they heard a series of whispers.
Kyle got up from his feet and pulled Corrian into the room and quietly shut the door behind her. They stood there looking at the door for a while, waiting for something to happen. Kyle was scared, he'd never been through something like this and didn't know what to do. He knew that whoever was in this house wasn't simply just a maid or one of his parents because they were all sound asleep in their respective rooms.
Kyle looked around his room trying to find a place for them to hide. He could hear Corrian next to him trying to keep her self calm, using breathing techniques their mentor taught them. He knew that she got overwhelmed easily and knew he was going to have to take the lead on this one. He was terrified beyond belief remembered what his dad had told him about staying strong and not to let the stress take over him.
he grabbed Corrian's arm and was about to make a dash to the bed when the door was slammed open.
I snapped awake at my desk, the last thing I remembered from the night before was drowning myself in work and most likely falling asleep in doing so. I winced as the vivid memories of what I dreamed about came back to me.
I looked to the clock sitting on my desk, mentally making a note that the orange haired boy was due to be coming to my office soon. I got up from my desk and yawned rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I was still wearing my work clothes, a dark midnight black lab coat with a maroon shirt under it and my typical black jeans. I was the only person in the whole lab who was wearing something other than sterile white. I reached for my black eyepatch sitting on my desk and put it on over my left eye.
I stumbled my way over to the bathroom joined with my office, opening the door and looking at myself in the mirror. I looked at the bags under my gold eye; The golden eyes were a trademark of the Flavius family our last name meaning golden in roman. sighing I took to my fluffy and out of control hair and managed to make it stay down at least in the slightest. I didn't bother to put on a change of clothes because the only ones I had left were the plain white clothes the lab provided for me and no way in hell was I going to wear that.
I turned around and made my way out of the bathroom, as I left the threshold of the door I was startled by my sister who was messing with the stuff sprawled across my desk....uninvited. I walked over to the desk and started to straighten it up before looking up to her waiting for her explanation of what she was doing in my office.
When she didn't make any efforts to tell me I took my chance to question her.
"Corri what the hell are you doing in my office, how did you even get over here without the guards catching you?" I said with an annoyed tone, I was tired of her barging into my office and messing with my stuff just to annoy me, which she always managed to do.
I snatched a couple of papers from her hands and turned my back to her to put them back in the large white file cabinet they came from.
"The guards know who I am and couldn't lay a hand on me without the risk of loosing their precious little Kyle" she said in a taunting voice.
I slammed the papers in my hands on the file cabinet and whipped around and opened my mouth ready to yell at her when I noticed she was looking at the door. I walked around the desk and stood next to her to try and get a glimpse of what she was looking at but before I could she stood in front of me, blocking my view of the door.
"What were you looking at?" I questioned her still trying to look around her, despite her being much shorter than me I still couldn't get a good glimpse at the door because she kept waving her hands around like a madman.
"It's nothing, nothing at all, uh I just saw a spider on the door and I know how much you hate bugs" Corrian rushed out, I pushed her lightly aside and made my way towards the door ignoring her attempts to pull me back.
I was now in front of the door and Corrian gave up on trying to pull me back and just stood to the side quietly waiting for me to open the door. When I opened the door I expected to see an empty hallway.
Instead I walked right into a kid with vibrant orange hair...
So I've made an extras book for this book where I will be posting things like, major updates, shorts, au's, information about the book, fanart (If I ever get any), and maybe even some contests. I'll try to post on it whenever I post a chapter for this book which will most likely be once or twice a month.
Also I'm going to start doing questions of the chapter just for fun so here's the first one.
