I woke up in a familiar place, a place that I haven't been in a long time.

The 'room' was as large and empty as I remembered it to be, everything was pitch black except for the large circular carpet in the middle of the room. On the circle was a lamp that lit up the area around it, a bookshelf, and a couch which had a dark figure sitting on it.

I slowly got up from my sitting position and made my way to the circle. Each step I took was slow and lethargic and felt as if weights had been tied to my feet. As I got closer to the figure they didn't turn around or acknowledge me in the slightest, instead they continued to read a book that I just noticed was in their hand.

It wasn't until I was directly in front of them that they lifted their head up to look at me.

"Xavier" I said earning a smile from Xavier, we looked nearly identical to each other the only differences being that he wasn't wearing an eyepatch and instead he had a pair of glasses perched onto the tip of his nose. His hair was also unlike mine, was cut neatly and was tied back into a ponytail at the back of his head. Everything else was identical, from the bright golden eyes to every single freckle on his face. But he wasn't me, he was evil and mischievous and had no remorse, he was a selfish demon who took hold of my mind and refused to let go.

"Hmmm, your finally awake" his voice was like silk, flowing from his lips smoothly with an air of elegance. He shut his book and placed it on a table that wasn't there before. Crossing his legs he rested his head in his hands and studied me.

"What happened while I was out, Xavier?" I growled out, knowing him he most definitely had screwed something up.

"Aw Kyle, I was hoping you would at least ask a bit about me, 'no how's my day'?" he sighed and opened his book and continued to read it, ignoring my question.

"Xavier, seriously, tell me what happened" I grabbed his book aggressively and threw it across the void. That must have really pissed off Xavier because in seconds he was only a few inches away from me.

"Go and ask your fucking boy toy what happened to you if you want to know so badly" he spat, anger lacing his voice as he spoke.

As those words left his mouth I woke up in a clean white bed gasping for air. After I calmed down I looked around and took in my surroundings, instantly, I recognized where I was, the medical facility. I noticed I was changed into a clean white hospital gown and my eyepatch was taken off. I started to panic and got up searching for my eyepatch, it was something that made me feel extremely uncomfortable without it.

I was too busy searching for my eyepatch to notice someone walking into the room until they spoke up.

"Thank god your awake" I heard my sister say as she threw her arms around me and buried her face into my chest.

"Oh come on Corrian, it wasn't that serious" Chris who was just then walking into the room rolled his eyes at Corrian who refused to let go of me.

I groaned and tried to pry her off of me but she would budge.

"What the hell happened, all I remember was hearing those screams and then a gust of wind knocked me out" I sighed giving up on detaching Corrian from me.

Chris slowly made his way towards me with his eyes closed and handed me my eyepatch and didn't open them again until I told him that it was secured over my eye which was something that I greatly appreciated.

"It's kind of a long story-" Chris started before getting interrupted by Corrian.

she finally detached herself from me a walked over to Chris and jabbing a finger into his chest.

"It's not a long story at all you betraying wimp, you led Kyle into another one of those stupid exams without even telling him it was going on OR even giving him a weapon so he could at least barely pass" With each word she jabbed him in the chest.

"OW ok listen even if I did tell him and give him a weapon he would have failed anyways because the test are rigged against him" Chris said as he grabbed Corrian's wrist to stop her from drilling a whole through his chest with her finger.

I stood there watching the exchange with a blank emotion as I let the words seep in. Every year they give scientist a practical test that determines if they move onto the next stage in their career or not, there was several levels and I was currently on the level bellow  Dr. Alex and I didn't have access to certain places, passing the test would allow me to reach every building in the lab. That was if the test weren't rigged against me because the government was afraid that if they gave me too much power I would start a revolution and destroy everything they worked and spent so much money on. Each year Chris would be asked to bring me to somewhere where a surprise test would be given to me and without any knowledge of what was going on I would fail, again and again and again. This has been going on for years now and you would think that I would be used to it but I'm not and I don't think I ever will be.

Chris and Corrian must have noticed my lack of response  because they had stopped arguing and just stood there watching me as if I was a ticking time bomb ready to explode. Instead of lashing out like I did every year I surprised them both and just sighed before taking up my lab coat and walking out of the room.

I was going to have a little talk with Callighan.
