A/N- Miles knows very little about the outside world but what he does know is information he'd gotten from Callighan.
In this place books were the only thing I had, they took me to a place where the grass wasn't fake and smelled of bleach, a place where I could stand outside for hours without anyone telling me otherwise. Books were the only thing the scientists allowed us to use in order to entertain ourselves, they gave us books as if they cared about our sanity when the only thing they really cared about was keeping us alive long enough to figure out how to make the best human weapon.
I stared at the book in my hands - the black ink words of the book. At this point I wasn't actually reading the book, I was simply looking at the pages to hide my anger about Kyle who I haven't even heard a single word from. The whole situation was a mess Callighan was the only person I trusted in this lab other than calvin and then he goes off and hands me over to some guy who hasn't left his emo phase yet.
I slammed my book shut, my anger finally overcoming me. My eyes scanned the walls of the perfectly white room I was forced to stay in. The only thing that hung on them was a single neatly placed clock, the hands displaying the time. It was extremely early and usually I wouldn't be up at this time but going to sleep wasn't an option, everytime I tried to doze off, the thought of Kyle would rush into my head. Today is the usual day I go to meet with Callighan for daily tests on my strength, intellect, etc. I assumed I was to go and meet with Kyle seeing as nothing much should change except for Callighan not being the one I would be accompanying.
Deciding it wasn't much use staying in bed I set my book aside and stepped on to the cold hardwood floor. As I was getting up from my bed I noticed something with the floors that wasn't there before. I hoped down from my bed and crouched down on my knees looking at the floor trying to figure out what was different, and then I saw it. A single board was out of place, I couldn't investigate any farther until lights out because the cameras were watching my every move. I pretended to be searching for my slippers, got dressed and walked into the bright white halls and made my way to the office that had once been occupied my Callighan before he got moved to the other ward.

I got to Kyle's office beyond early, so early that most of the people, if you can even call them that, were still locked in their rooms waiting to get clearance to get out. The only people out roaming the halls were the guards and some scientist rushing through the halls with tubes of most likely blood and animal DNA samples.
The hallways always made me uncomfortable, especially when they were empty but ever since Kyle had gotten here it's been even eerier and sometimes I swear I could feel someone watching me.
As I walked the eyes of the guards followed my every step, I didn't dare look at them because even the slightest hint of nervousness would get me knocked to the ground and demanded to give them my papers of clearance. During my first years of being here I had to learn my lesson the hard way, despite being as small as the artificial plants in the "field" they still though of me as a threat. It made sense, when you were doing something as dangerous as they are, making sure no one escapes is crucial. I knew I wasn't doing anything wrong, but they didn't.
It was countless of tense minutes before I had finally gotten to Kyle's office. I was still around 15 minutes early and I knew he wouldn't be expecting me yet. I was just about to open the office door when I heard voices coming from inside. I peeked in through the small slit in the door to see Kyle standing with his back faced to the door and fiddling with something on his desk. A woman about the same height as me was standing behind him, they were both faced away from me and I couldn't see much except for the fact that they both had goat like horns positioned on their heads, the horns were a deep black and almost resembled smoke flowing down their heads to make a perfect shape. They both also had the same pale skin tone and dark reddish brown hair. The woman's hair was put up in a long braid in an attempt to hide the waviness of it. I trained my ears onto what they were saying and tried to make out what they were talking about.
"Corri what the hell are you doing in my office, how did you even get over here without the guards catching you?" I heard Kyle say, it was the first time I had ever heard him talk, his voice was deep and sort of melancholic, although he tried to hide it I could hear the sadness in his voice.
"The guards know who I am and couldn't lay a hand on me without the risk of loosing their precious little Kyle" the woman who I deduced was Corrie spoke, her voice was the opposite Kyle's, she had a cheerful and bright voice that held an air of tease in it. She turned around so that I could see her and the realization hit me.
This girl was no doubt Kyle's sibling...
This one is really short because I wanted to save meeting Corrian for the next chapter because she deserves a whole chapter ok. Also I didn't edit this chapter and it will go under editing once I finish the book.
Ha kinda hate the last paragraph but oh well.
