I listen to the door as Miles shuts it softly on his way out. I wait for a few minutes and listen for any sign of Miles snooping around, I don't want him to hear or see something that he isn't supposed to. Deciding the coast is clear I let out all of my frustration by throwing everything in sight, files, tables, chairs, books. By the time I'm done I'm standing in the middle of what looks like a warzone.
I look around at the mess I made while trying to keep my breathing under control.
If only you let out all of your anger on Chris.
I shook the thought from my head, it's not Chris's fault that he resorts to violence whenever he doesn't have his way, it's this damn Lab's fault. If your trapped here for all of your life watching as the guards brutally beat anyone who steps even slightly out of line you begin to pick up on that behavior. Not to mention that his father, Dr. Alex is a disgusting old man who takes pleasure from the pain of others. This is the only thing keeping me from hurting him, his inability to tell that his actions are wrong.
Chris isn't a bad guy, yeah he can be annoying and a bother to be around from time to time but he's not a horrible person, he's also just a big drama queen and likes to make a scene.
Or your just delusional
I once again looked around at the mess I made and decided to let whoever comes around to clean this place to deal with it.
I walked over chairs and other mess to get to my door and walk out into the now filled hallway. I took a deep breath and reached into my pocket for the note Chris gave me. My eyes skimmed across the slip of paper that had rushed and illegible handwriting that read 'Meet me in the canteen when your finished'. Sighing, I made my way to the canteen and in the process pushing many brightly colored haired people out of my way. Usually there weren't many people in the halls, they were all either meeting up with their assigned doctors, in classes, or in combat training but the lunchtime rush meant lots more people...great.

After finally making my way through the groups of people in my way I made it to the canteen entrance.
I pushed open the large canteen doors and stepped inside of the building. The Canteen was a spacious building and was one of the few places where there were splashes of color on the walls in the form of poster propaganda reminding all of the subjects of their 'contribution to society' or whatever. My eyes searched the room looking for Chris but instead they stopped on Miles who was sitting at a long bench with a guy with cat ears, the guy was talking animatedly to Miles but he just gave him a few nods and really looked out of it. His eyes drifted over to where I was as if he could sense my presence and we made eye contact for a split second before he turned back to the guy in front of him, muttered a few words, and then made a b line out of the building, I debated going after him but then remembered that 1. It wasn't any of my business and 2. I still had to meet up with Chris. I pushed the thought of Miles to the back of my mind and continued to look for Chris.
After a few minutes of walking around looking for the asshole I started to get annoyed. I had searched the entire canteen and was beginning to think that Chris had me come all the way over here just to mess with me.
With a sigh of frustration I crossed my arms and leant against the nearest wall which was near the food line. I watched as kids of all ages approached the line and hold out their trays as the ladies behind the counter scowled at them as they plopped a gray colorless mound of slop onto each tray. I shook my head at the sight.
"Disgusting right?"
I turned my head to find Chris next to me with a huge grin.
"Man am I glad we don't have to eat this crap" he continued when he realized I wasn't going to reply. I was confused as to how this guy can remain so happy in a place like this.
"It's not like the food we get is much better"
"Yes but at least our food has color" I looked at him or more like glared at him.
"What did you call me over her for, because if it was to just stand around and talk about things I really don't care for then if you don't mind, I'm leaving" I didn't have time to spend on Chris is his stupid opinions about food.
"Awe loosen up Ky, Callighan wants us to deal with some shit going on in the nursery, something about a little girl going ape shit on the guards" he replied with a lazy smile forming on his face as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and led me to the door.
I smacked his arm off of me and glared at him "You touch me again and I'll break your fingers"
"Feisty, keep your finger breaking until after we deal with this problem"
and with that we left the cateen and made our way to deal with whatever Callighan had in store for us.

A/N
So I'm finally off hiatus and here is the first of many chapters that I have prepared for the next few months, the next update will be sometime during the first seven days of next month and maybe earlier. This will be the case for the rest of my chapters until this book will be over. I plan for there to be around 40 chapters and yes there will most likely be a second book because as I develop the plot I realized to much stuff is going to happen in this series and if I were to add it all into one book there would either have to be like 80 chapters or the pace would be so fast that you wouldn't even know wtf is going on.
So anyways hope you guys enjoyed, adios.
