Ch. 5- You Can't Do Anything More With Gods Work

I couldn't be living a better life right now.

Every week I looked forward to going back to the hospital to see my patient, Mr. Allen.

And each day, I was spending my ride home with Michael and sometimes even lunch.

But when I wasn't with him I was in Mr. Allen's room checking in on him.

I made sure to keep up with his hygiene of course. And making sure I kept is legs and arms moving, applying special attention to the injured ones.

There was something about this man that kept me thinking about him and weak when I was around him.

But I wanted to be strong for him.

I wanted for him to have nothing less than a full recovery when he woke up. When he came back to us.

To me. I thought.

It felt as though I knew this man, and was longing for his consciousness to be restored. I hated seeing him like this.

But he was still beautiful to me, beyond the scars and bruises. Those will heal.

Other than that, there wasn't much to do for him. To be fair, you can't do anything more to God's work. And a work of art is what he was.

I was blessed to have gotten so lucky with this experience. I will be able to complete my requirements and I'm gaining so much knowledge and building relationships with everyone at the hospital.

It doesn't help that I get to see such attractive faces everyday either.

I'm honestly loving life right now.

Massaging in the creams to his skin, I became aware of his pulse. The sound was coming in a lot more clearly. It wasn't quite racing, it had a strong, solid pace. It was almost soothing. And a great sign that he might be waking up any day now.

I had just finished cleaning up Mr. Allen and applying topicals to his wounds when a knock came at the door.

"Come in."

"Hi sweetheart, I'm here to let you know you're on break early today.  You've got a special request from the man upstairs." She winked.

I couldn't help but smile.

"Well, if I must go..." I said yanking my gloves off and hurrying to pack everything thing up.

Ms. Sheila began cracking up making me laugh too.

I couldn't help but hear the heart monitor start to slow.

"Oh we must've been too loud, and made Mr. Beautiful uncomfortable." She said and began to get her stethoscope out.

"Everything seems normal here. Maybe it's just his body getting used to functioning again." She spoke quietly.

I came over, taking her stethoscope and replacing her hands with mine.

The pulse came in strong again.

"Yep, that's probably it. I'll have Somers come in with a specialist to check him out more. You just get going." She said pushing me out the room.

Laughing, I thanked her and made my way up to Michael's office.

Super short. I know. Just trying to build the story up a little more before dropping any big moments.

Maybe some big changes will be made next chapter 😉
