"Auntie says hi,"
Earlier That Day~
"Pops!" Toni heard, watching Philip run through the doors. "He's upstairs sleeping. Please, let him rest for once in his life." The woman said, expertly cleaning her revolver. "Woah! Auntie, you never told me you had a gun!" Philip said, momentarily forgetting about his problem. "Oh yes I did. When you were younger, I gave it to ya in exchange to keep a secret. You didn't even realize it had no bullets, and Eliza almost killed me!" She laughed at the memory, looking down at the sparkly gun. Philip smiled, before quickly regaining his senses and panicking. "Oh God!" Toni cocked an eyebrow at him, motioning him closer. "Sit. What'd you just realize?" "That I challenged someone to a duel, and I don't even know what a duel is!" Toni paled. "No. You can't go through with this, Philip, duels are dangerous. They aren't some sort of-..Some sort of game! You could die!" Toni said, grabbing his shoulders and shaking them. "The last thing we need right now is a dead son Philip!" "I-I can't just back out! He was insulting our family!" "Who?" "Eacker!" Toni frowned, running a hand through her hair. "You Hamilton's and your pride.." She muttered. "Get up. Take my gun, and I'm waking up your father." "B-but-!" "No buts! You got yourself into this mess and I'm trying to get you out!" She stood up, yanking the boy up and storming up the steps.
She found the guest bed where Alexander was sleeping, walking over and throwing open the curtains. Light flooded into the room, making Alexander groan. "Five more days.." He whined. "As much as I want you to keep sleeping, your son just got himself into a mess." Alexander groggily sat up, Toni gently kissing his forehead. The man smiled, standing up and gently touching her cheek. They stood there for a moment, unmoving until the situation came back into Toni's mind. She gave him a sad smile. "Your son is in a duel." Alexander's eyes widened. "What?!" He whisper shouted, making her nod as he ran a hand through his hair. "He doesn't even know what a duel is!" Alex shouted. "Exactly! But while that boy has inherited so much from Eliza, he just had to get your pride and ego!" Toni said, tears pricking her eyes as she threw her hands into the air. "I've lost too many, Alexander, and I'm not even related to Philip! Eliza can't lose him, YOU can't lose him! He can't back out now, and unless he finds a second that's good at talking he's done for! He's never even shot a gun, let alone my revolver!" The woman dug her hands into her scalp, thoughts flashing through her mind as Alexander placed a hand on her shoulder. "Toni..You know who's great at talking?" He said quietly, the woman shaking her head. The two adults didn't notice the panicking Philip in the doorway, watching the scene. "You, non?" "You. You are! You do public speaking all the time and help me out in court. You're almost as good as me!" She hit him in between his ribs with her hand, making him fall back with a laugh. She grinned. "But what if it doesn't work?" "Then we pray that my son inherited my aim." "No. It's too risky.." Toni's eyes lit up. "He shall shoot at the sky." "Giving up?" "Shoot at the sky. Your son will not be a murderer, and if that damned Eacker shoots..He will be imprisoned for murder." Alex pondered for a moment before nodding in agreement. "So Auntie's gonna be my second?!" They both jumped, Toni's hand instinctively grabbing onto Alex's. "Jesus Philly.." She said, the men laughing. "Yes, I will be. And I'll be damned to hell if you die under my watch." Philip nodded with a determined look in his eye. Both adults grew stiff at the look. "Alright. When's the duel?" "Sun down." "Sun do-JOHN THAT'S NOW!" She yelled, walking towards him onto the realize she was still holding Alex's hand. She turned red. She let go quickly, grabbing Philips arm. "Jersey?" He nodded. "Let's go." "Wait!" Alexander pulled the girl and his son back. "I love you, Philip." Philip hugged his father tightly. "Toni?" She turned as Philip left the room, her eyes widening as Alexander kissed her forehead. "Save my son." Something was tossed at her chest, the girl looking down to see a medical bag. A certain one, to be exact. "My war bag?" She muttered. "Go help him." She looked up at Alexander, nodding before running out of the house to catch the carriage. Once they were both seated they took off, The woman holding Philip tightly. "Auntie, why'd you call me John?" Her eyes turned dark. "I-I did?" He nodded. "Pops calls me John sometimes too." "It's because you look like Uncle John, remember him?" He nodded. "You looked so similar, It's kinda scary." She laughed it off. "Now, what you're gonna do is turn around at ten and aim for the sky. No earlier. No later. Got it?" He nodded.
