"I may not live to see our glory."

"Alexander? Toni? You have letters from south Carolina." Eliza said, making the two smile before waving their hands.

"But I will gladly join the fight."

"It's from John Laurens, I'll read mine later." Toni said, going back to writing her letter along with Alexander. "No it's not.."

"And when our children tell our stories.."

"W-Will you read it?" Alexander said, helping Toni to her feet as he stomach churned.

"They'll tell the story of tonight."

"On Tuesday the twenty-seventh, lieutenant colonel  John Laurens was killed in a gun fight against British troops in south Carolina. These troops had not yet received word from York Town that the war was over. He is buried here until his family can send for his remains. As you may know, lutieuint colonel Laurens was engaged in recruited three thousand men for the first all black military regiment. The surviving members of this regiment have been returned to their masters."

"Tomorrow there'll be more of us."

"Alexander are you alright?" Eliza asked, watching as they both turned to their papers. John Laurens was in neat cursive on the top of their letters, Alexander watching as a wet mark appeared on the paper next to his. He turned his head quickly, Toni covering her mouth and letting out a muffled sob. He was quick to wrap her in his arms, Eliza moving towards Toni before Alexander stopped her.

"We have so much work to do.." He said quietly, before staring off into a corner. There in the shadows stood a familiar figure, giving one final salute before fading off into nothing. He carried Toni out of the room, the woman still crying loudly. Eliza stood silently, watching them leave. She soon heard loud bangs on the door, picking up her skirts and running down to answer it. "Hello?" She opened the door, her eyes widening to see Hercules carrying a sobbing Lafayette. Hercules was sniffling and crying, Eliza giving them a sad smile. "Come in. I believe they're in Toni's room." With that Hercules was up the steps, rounding corners before hearing faint sobs in a room. He opened the door, seeing Alexander rubbing Toni's back soothingly and kissing her head. They both were crying, Lafayette stumbling forward towards his sister. He grabbed onto her tightly, making her eyes open. She let out a louder cry at the sight of her brother, the two sobbing on the floor as their knees buckled. Alexander and Hercules stared at the two on the floor, before joining them and crying. Eliza stood in the doorway, watching. She had not known Laurens well at all, but seeing the lives that he made such a huge impact on crumble without him made her shed a tear.

"Here's to our freedom."

"Boys? You both have a letter from France." The two boys sitting at Alexanders desk smiled, dissmissng her with a wave.

"Something they can never take away, no matter what they tell you~"

"It's from Toni I'll read it later." John said. "No, It's not." Eliza said quietly.

"We kicked Britain's ass, we sent them into the ground.~"

Flashback~"

"We can be free, mon ami! I'm telling you now! I'm gonna kick their British asses and send them into ground!" A half drunk Toni screamed, raising her glass with her brother, Hercules and Laurens. They cheered as Alexander watched the woman in awe, her bright chocolate colored eyes locking on him as she gave him a toothy grin.

End~

"W-Will you read it?" Alexander asked, John standing up and glancing at his letter. "O-On Tuesday the twenty-seventh, general Antoinette de Lafayette (In short,) was killed in a gun fight against the British in Chesapeake Bay. After receiving word that the war was over, the general walked over to the British troops to shake the generals hand. She was then shot in the side by a soldier, who was then gunned down by her troops. She will be buried here until her family sends for her remains. As you may know, General Antoinette was the first female solider in the army legally, let alone our first female general..The woman who she has inspired and allowed into the army have now been relieved of their positions." Eliza read aloud, letting out a choked sob.
