YOUR POV
It's only 5am and my thoughts keep on wandering back that serious and cute tutor boy called Logan. He was tutoring for my younger sister, Eliza, and we would always steal glances at every chance we had. I was supposed to pick a husband soon and I wanted to pick him, but my mother just laughed as she wants me to marry rich. I would have been ok if it weren't for him. Instead, I have to go with his older brother Roman- don't get me wrong I get along with him and he treats me like the royalty I am, which you don't see a lot of nowadays, but with Logan I can feel a connection.
A few nights later and it's a royal ball. Most people bring a plus one, including Eliza: she decided to invite Logan despite it being a royal occasion. I wasn't going to disagree with the choice but I'm jealous that she's allowed to marry whoever she wants, and will most likely get. I, on the other hand, had to stick with Prince Roman. Yes, he's able to make me feel good while still respecting me, but it feels more platonic.
"Lords and ladies alike," a booming voice brought me out of my trance. "We've finally gotten to the part of the night where we can watch the next-in-lines have their first dance together so please give a warm welcome to your-soon-to-be-majesty: (Y/N) of the (L/N)'s!" I slowly walked out from the shadows and down the stairs in my elegant dress. (If you dont like dresses then I'm sorry, imagine something else.)
I could feel every single pair of eyes on me as I tried my best not to fall down, it was then realised my shoulders were tensed and I wasn't smiling as I couldn't bring myself not to until I made eye contact with Logan. My heart almost stopped at the sight of his sad yet reassuring expression, I looked away before anyone caught on and instead focused on Prince Roman, who looked like he was in a trance, watching every step I took from the bottom. It wasn't until I had actually reached the second to last step that he extended his hand for a slow dance for which I had to accept.
We danced for a while until the song ended and I told Roman I needed some air, heading towards a remote lake hidden away from everyone else.
"Hello, Miss (L/N)." I heard a cool and collected voice from in front of me. I looked up and noticed it was Logan, he looked dishevelled but kept his small smile from before.
"Logan, we've known each other for as long as I can remember, please call me (Y/N)." I chuckled slightly, hiding my inner stress of the previous few hours.
"That's the issue," he began directly. "We have known each other for so long and all of a sudden you are getting married to my older brother." He looked away, I could see tears forming in his eyes.
"Logan." He dropped his head in shame, "Logan look at me." He slowly peered at me, waiting for my verbal response. Instead, I grabbed his face and kissed him deeply. He quickly kissed back after getting over the shock. We pulled away as I stood up. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Let's never speak of this again."
