(my apologies for taking longer than usual.)

Gavin felt his system fall a little cold, mainly because he didn’t want anyone to notice the message. Yes, he’s an android. He was actually one of the first androids Elijah created, supposedly as some type of memorial for his deceased brother. Gavin couldn’t understand why Elijah would create in memory for another. It was one of the very few human functions Gavin was given or told from his brother, or creator. Gavin, similar to most androids, was made to live along with humans, but he doesn’t have an LED. He does have blue blood like them, but that’s the only similarity he has to the androids. His voice isn’t robotic at all, as the entire world could clearly tell.

“Yeah yeah, but it better be important.”

“Oh it will be.” The conversation ended there, and Gavin returned to his work.

From the other side of the room, Connor was receiving Hank a cup of coffee. As usual, he would constantly glance at Gavin. He could hear some people calling it creepy, but that’s just how Connor was. They weren’t androids, they don’t know what it’s like to be programmed with specific quirks.

“Connor?” Hank called from his desk. Waiting patiently. Connor broke out his little daze and strode over to him, placing his coffee on a coaster. “What’s with that little bounce in your step?”

“It’s nothing” Connor lied, but Hank didn’t push.

The rest of the day was fairly quick, with little really going on. Fowler got angry with Gavin as usual, Officer Miller was conversing with Hank about, whatever. Yeah, nothing special.

The moment it hit 6:00,Gavin was out the door and in his car before anyone else even stood up. He was a man of his word, or android of… you get the idea. And he did care for Elijah, and that’s not his programming talking. Gavin knew his programming was to be a normal human being to function in the real world. His hatred for the newer androids is because they’re new and are obviously robots, unlike him. Whatever, he needed to get to Elijahs by 6:35 like he said.

He knocked on his door at exactly 6:35 and Chloe was already there to greet him. She was probably the only modern android Gavin liked from the start.

“Hello Gavin, it’s nice to finally see you again” Chloe greeted with a smile. Gavin was then pulled into hug, it felt nice. Sadly the moment wasn't to last, for Eliah was standing in the doorway of his pool room, in his robe.

“Hello Gavin, glad you could make it.”

“Yeah yeah, what is it that’s so damned important?”

Elijah merely stepped aside and motioned for Gavin to enter. Of course Gavin complied, but not before Chloe took Gavins coat. Inside the pool room was a set of chairs. They both sat down and Elijah's face was now plastered with a dark stare.

“I need you to do something for me, and it won't be easy” He said, his voice scarcely monotone. “But you are programmed with many abilities, even some that the androids do not have the pleasantries of…”

“Get to the damn point Kamski.”

Elijah took a deep breath before continuing.

“There's an underground gang that is kidnapping androids of any sort, and basically turning them into killers for there own amusement.” That wasn't surprising to Gavin, but Elijah wasn't done.”and I know who their next target is.”

“Well don't build up all that tension. Just fucking tell me!” If Gavin wasn't fed up before, he sure as hell is now. Whoever the target is, Gavin was going to have to protect them. And that was his programming talking.

“You know that rk800 you worked with?”

…..

“WHAT!” Elijah laughed at his ‘brothers’ reaction, but he was also expecting it.

“Well, he is a target, but not to be a killer.”

“Then what?” Gavin asked through grit teeth. This is why he almost never came by to see Elijah, willingly. He would always play tricks on his mind, try to confuse his programming, and he hated it. But there were very few things Gavin liked.

“He's meant to be more of a…” Elijah dragged on. “Prisoner, guinea pig...play toy.” Elijah still had that fucking smirk on his face and it was getting Gavins nerve.

“Then why not tell the DPD? they'll protect that piece of shit!”

“Because they'll shut him down” Chloe cut in. Both men looked at her. “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.”

Gavin looked back at Elijah, who wasn't smirking or smiling anymore.

“And on top of that, it could possibly cause another war. Wouldn't want another one of those?”

Gavin shrugged his shoulders and huffed. “Fine, but what will you have me do? Let him live with me?” He asked sarcastically.

“I was hoping you'd say that. I already sent word to the DPD about that.”

Shit

“What?”

“Well, to Connor specifically. I didn't mention that he's a target because without a doubt he'll alert Anderson, who'll alert the DPD.”

Elijah has clearly thought this through. Well, Gavin had a lot of planning to do. Lucky me he thought.

The rest of Gavins visit was very short, merely just Elijah wishing Gavin would drop by more often, which they both knew was never going to happen.

The next day at the DPD, Gavin almost decided not to go today. But he was basically voluntold to get Connor. As he entered Connor was already waiting at his desk patiently, with a coffee in hand.

“I wouldn't mind getting hit by a truck right now” he mumbled to himself.

“Good morning detective. I never got the chance to properly congratulate you on the interrogation…”

“It's fine… Connor.” The android handed the coffee over to Gavin who obviously accepted, and chugged immediately.

“Chugging coffee can't be…”

“Yeah yeah whatever. Look, I don't care that you're an android, person-robot, whatever. But having you live with me was not on my to do list.”

“Nor was it on mine, but you don't see me complaining.” Connor winked at Gavin and gave a little smile. For some reason, Gavin's face felt warmer than usual.

“So now you're a flirt?”

“No, I'm just teasing. I know humans tend to…”

“Why are you still at my desk?”

“Why do you keep interrupting me?”

“Because I don't want to hear it, that's why.”

Connor didn't respond. Instead he continued to maintain eye contact with Gavin.

“Just go back to your desk, and do your work with Anderson. We're heading home at 7:14 tonight.” With that, the day continued with little to no problem.

The ride home however, was a different story.
