Wedding Day
A one time special occasion that every girl dreams to experience someday.
Well, all except the petite maiden standing quietly in front of a full length mirror, while a maid was busy putting the finishing touches on her hair.
Hours of staring at nothing but the ground, she finally averted her gaze from the carpeted floor and look up to scrutinize her own reflection.
There she was, her soft flaxen hair kept in a neat and tight bun with strands of curls resting at the sides of her charming face. She was also wearing a light makeup on, yet she was baffled to see that her soft features seemed to be more emphasized with the cosmetics.
Done ogling her very neatly visage, she then moved her vision to her attire. And a frown was immediately formed on her lips.
She was wearing a long white gown that was layered with a lot of pearls and were made of lace that appeared to be really expensive-scratch that, they were expensive-and she didn't like materials that values a heavy price.
Placing one more sterling pin in her already appealing hair, the maid at her side smiled. "You look absolutely stunning, My Lady." The maid complimented.
Looking up, the maiden saw her completed work. "Thank you." She shortly replied, returning her kind smile with a small grin.
Seeing that the maiden doesn't appear to be enthralled, the maid furrowed her eyebrows. "Is there something bothering you, My Lady?" She worriedly asked.
'Yes.' She badly wanted to answer. But she held her tongue to prevent the word from rolling out of her mouth.
"It's nothing. Nothing at all." She lied. And thank heavens, she mastered it.
Believing the maiden's answer, the maid did a bow and finally left the elegant bride alone inside her appointed chamber.
As soon as the door closed, a distressed sigh swiftly escaped the maiden's rosy lips. For up until now, her current situation still didn't sink into her. And with everything going way to rapid, wasn't also helping her to fully understand anything.
If she could've just foreseen this was coming, she would've done everything in her power to stop this madness. She's eighteen, for crying out loud and getting married at this age didn't crossed her mind yet.
But here she is, standing in a mirror, bejeweled with heavy jewelry and clothed with a high priced fabric that cost greater than her diminutive house.
Her moment inside of a deep thought was then abruptly ceased, when someone outside knocked at the room's wooden doors. The sudden sound making the maiden flinch in the process.
"Come in." She said in her soft voice. Upon the door opening, a man in a uniform showed up and straightforwardly announced the words that made her heart skip a beat.
"It is time, My Lady." As the words left his mouth, the maiden's hope was shattered to pieces.
'God, do help me.' She helplessly mumbled as she slowly stride towards the door. The door that will change her life completely once she steps a foot outside the solace of her room.
For today is the day, the day she dreaded to come. Her own wedding day.
