Chapter 15: Traitor

Shea helps Clint strap into the Stormtrooper suit as Jacen helps Selene do the same, Bucky and Steve proved too muscular for the suits and Tony, Natasha, Sam and Bruce have their own parts to play, Shea wanted to keep Tony away from the middle of it all. Shea would lock him up in the basement if she thought it would help, but she knows it wouldn't. Shea hands the helmet to Clint who pulls it on with a nods, Shea pulls back a little to look both of them over.

"Is it really believable that only two of them caught the both of you?" Steve asks behind them.

"It'll work" Shea counters as she pulls her lightsabre from her belt, she hates to give it up, but guards wouldn't let their prisoners keep their weapons, Jacen gives hers to Selene who attaches it to her belt.

"I'll look after it" Clint promises Shea who nods and touches the length of it before holding it out to Clint.

Jacen, Shea, Selene and Clint are taking a stolen enemy ship up to the main flag ship hovering in the atmosphere above Earth. Then the resistance, the Avengers and the Earth teams from Fury will wait for their signal, and mount a full scale attack on the enemy fleet. Whilst Jacen, Shea, Selene and Clint take on the inside of the flag ship. Shea lets out a breath stood with Jacen the stolen enemy ship behind them, ready for them. This is their last chance to turn back. To change their minds. But they won't. This is something to save the world. To save themselves. To save Shea's friends. The man she loves.

"Ready?" Jacen asks, Shea nods and shares a look with her cousin.

"Let's make it count" Shea whispers glancing behind Jacen to where Tony stands in his Iron Man suit. "We have to" Jacen nods and hugs Shea who hugs her back before they both pull away. They both then walk towards the ship. Jacen heading up onto the ship first where Selene and Clint wait for them. Shea glances back again looking to Tony who waves, she waves back giving him a sad smile, unaware that behind his mark his expression is just as broken. She takes a breath and walks onto the ship, the doors lifting up closed behind her. Clint, in his Stormtrooper suit, sits in the pilot's seat.

Sam sits in the pilot seat of the Tempest, it feels funny him sat here, it's Shea's seat. He runs his hand over the controls and then pats the console.

"Alright, girl" he teases. "Let's do this" he starts the engine as the other Avengers, those not with Shea and Jacen, strap themselves in. Sam glances to Tony who fiddles with his Iron Man helmet. Worry seeping into his bones. Of course he finds an amazing woman that he utterly adores and admires and she is sacrificing herself to save them all. Sam and Steve share a look before Sam turns forward waiting. That's their job now. Waiting.

The stolen ship lands on the flight deck of the flag ship without trouble. The four passengers calm, ready. Jacen and Shea stand to let Selene cuff them both, she looks between them and nods before stepping back, Jacen and Shea turn towards the ramp as Clint lowers it and then joins them, the four of the walk off the ship, just two stormtroopers bringing aboard two prisoners.

The ship, set on auto pilot, closes up it's doors and takes flight again, clearing the flight deck and heading into space.

Selene and Clint try to look inconspicuous in their armoured suits as they wait for a vacuum elevator to arrive. Troops, bureaucrats, and robots bustle about, ignoring the quartet. Finally a small elevator arrives and the quartet enters.

"I can't see a thing in this helmet" Clint complains. A bureaucrat races to get aboard also, but is signalled away by Selene. The door to the pod-like vehicle slides closed and the elevator car takes off through a vacuum tube.

Clint, holding Shea's arm, and Selene holding Jacen's arm head into the huge open room at the centre of the ship. A figure linger in front of a huge window looking out over the expanse of space. The four of them walk closer, slowly, as if Jacen and Shea are actually prisoners. The figure lowers their head listening to their approach. Jacen and Shea's eyes widen as the figure turns around to face them.

"Cade" Shea whispers, he smirks at her.

"Little sister" he counters.

"You're the leader of the First Order?" Jacen snaps angrily. "You traitor!!" Cade flicks out his wrist and sends Jacen flying she cries out hitting the floor, Shea lifts her eyes from her cousin and back to her brother.

"It's nice to finally meet you" Cade tells Shea. Selene and Clint share a look, knowing that Shea and Jacen are more emotionally involved now, it will down to the two of them to see this through, keeping the two Jedi's on the right path, Clint presses the button held in his hand.

The stolen ship they'd taken to the flag ship floats in space, abandoned. It suddenly explodes.

"That's the signal" Steve pats Sam on the shoulder before moving to the comms, he opens up the channel to the rest of the fleet and then takes a breath. "I know a lot of you have been fighting this fight for far longer then any of us here on Earth could ever imagine. But today you have us all standing beside you as your fight finally ends. You all know the plan, you all know your tasks....." Steve looks to Sam who readies the jet. "You're fighting for your freedom, your future which means only one outcome is acceptable. We win" Steve glances to Tony. "And every single one us makes it back....So let's go make sure these sons a bitches get what's coming to them" he closes off the comms and nods to Sam who smirks. "Don't say it" Steve warns.

"Language" Sam mumbles getting the ship airborne, every other ship in Central Park close behind him as he heads up towards the clouds.

"Nice" Bucky teases, trying to hide his own worry for Selene.

"It means a lot to these people" Steve counters. "More to them then to us...." the Avengers take this on board, they're not just fighting for themselves, for Earth, for Shea....but for her people, the resistance, their future, for a chance of peace. They've taken their lives for granted, knowing that some of the resistance have been fighting for as long as they can remember.
