Chapter 8

We sat by the gate after what just happened in silence. the sounds of the battle ringing.

"I still can't believe Thorin tried to kill you, Kaya," Ori says breaking the silence

"Well, I'm not Ori I did strike him." I stand up walking around a bit

"Even so he still had no right in doing so Lass," Bofur says making me stop and turn to face them

"What I still don't understand why you and Bilbo gave them that stone." Kili points out, standing up and walking to me "Because you two had no right, no right to give away the stone of our people." He points to the others

"Kili you must believe me when I say that Bilbo and I did that because we care about you." I look around "We care about all of you. We thought it would help fix everything."

Dwalin scoffed "Ha, you care. You've lied to us, you even help the halfling hide the Arkenstone from us then gave it to our enemies."

"Yes, Dwalin I knew Bilbo had the stone for a while and yes I helped him give it to Bard and King Thundrail." I say turning to face him "And you know what if I had the choice I'd do it again because you are all not just my friends you're like my family and I do anything to protect the ones I care about." I say turning and start walking off

"Uh, Kaya where you going," Nori asks

"I'm going to talk some sense into Thorin's thick dwarven head." I briefly stop and say over my shoulder

"After what just happened I don't see that being a good idea Lassie," Balin tells me

"I've got to do something Balin, people are dying out there and I'm not just going to sit here."

"Look, Lass, stay here I'll go talk to him. He'd more likely to listen to me right now than you." Dwalin says standing up

I nod as he pasts by. I stand there with my back to the group thinking over what I've said and jump as I feel two arms wrap around my waist "Bit jumpy now are we, princess." Kili whispers nuzzling my neck

"Well if someone didn't keep sneaking up I'd be fine," I whisper then chuckled 

"Well, I can't help it you're just so cute when you jump like that."

"Well, that's mean" I pout "So not angry with me?"

He chuckles "Nah, I can't stay mad at yea. Besides you were just trying to help us. I'm sorry." He says resting his chin on my shoulder.

I pat his head "Well that's good to know because I hate to see you upset."

We stand there for a few minutes "I guess we should go sit and wait for Dwalin to come back," I finally whisper to him

He nods "I think that might be a good idea."

We walk over to where Kili was sitting earlier. I lean against him entwining our fingers.

After Dwalin comes back with his talk with Thorin he tells us what happens. So we all sit by the gates of Erebor, as we sit desolately, forced to hear the cries of battle outside unable to help anyone out there. Soon we see Thorin approaching us further in the mountain, sword is drawn. He is no longer dressed in his royal robes and armor but in a simple leather outfit.

Kili rises and begins shouting "I will not hide behind a wall of stone, while others fight our battles for us!

Thorin and he continue to approach each other soon stopping and they start talking, Thorin lays his hand on Kili's shoulder, smiling. They then touch foreheads.

Thorin turns to the rest of us. "I have no right to ask this of any of you; but will you follow me one last time?"

We all stand and raise our weapons, ready to follow him again. The dwarves started to leave.

I begin to follow them but stop when I hear Thorin shout "Kaya wait. I would like to speak to you."

I run back, stopping in front of him "Yes Thorin."

"I would like to apologize for the way I have treated you this past year. I had no right in any way to act like that." he smiles placing his hand on my shoulder" I'm sorry and I am truly glad you're here."

I nod "Of course thorin. Apologize accepted. And like I told the others you are not just my friends but family and you are my king." I smiled bowing "So I'm at your service, your majesty."

He smiles and we join the other at Erebor's gate.
