Chapter 1:
9:30. I'm surprised I woke up so early! Well, it is the first day of summer. I'm glad I finally have the chance to take a two month break from school. I just finished Junior year, and now I have the most important year of school ahead of me. I need to make sure my grades are good, so I can be accepted into the colleges I want to get into. Anyway, for the summer I've decided to just relax and just have fun. I get out of my bed and walk out of my room, head down the stairs, and walk into the kitchen. The house is empty because my parents are at work. Well, at least i thought it was quiet.
"Chloe!" it's my little brother, Max, running down to greet me.I groan because i don't really want to be bothered at this point, "What?"
"What's for breakfast? I want pancakes with orange juice!" he says really loudly. I just glare at him because i'm extremely annoyed now.
"Make your own breakfast, bud," I say and open up the fridge, looking for something good to eat. He rolls his eyes and walk back up the stairs to his room. I pull out some milk and cereal and take a seat at the dining table. I rub my eyes because I still feel exhausted; I almost want to crawl back into bed and sleep the summer away. As I eat my cereal, I ponder about what fun things I should do this summer. Maybe i should go to the beach today and focus on my surfing. I'm quite the surfer if I do say so myself, but i definitely have some things to work on. I finish my cereal and put everything away. I hear Max blasting his TV, but I walk right past it and into my room. I pull my hair into a ponytail, and put on my surfing gear. "Max, I'm going to the beach. What are you doing today?"
"I'm going to Tommy's house to play with his new Nintendo," he says through the door. I know Tommy, he's been best friends with Max since kindergarten, and they're still friends, even now, in the 7th grade. I walk down the stairs with my surfboard and close the door behind me. I live pretty close to the beach, so it's not too bad of a walk. As I walk along the side of the busy road, I finally realize that I have no worries for the summer. No friend drama, no boy drama, no school drama, it's all carefree.
I finally approach the beach, and my feet slowly sink into the sand with each step I take. I'm surprised it's so busy today, usually this beach is pretty quiet. There's a lot of people playing volleyball around the net on the far side of the beach. There are also a lot of surfers, and wow, the waves are nice today. I approach the water and let the waves lap over my feet. It's nice. I look around, and then place my board into the water. Suddenly, I feel a little bump on the side of my head. I turn around and see a little beach ball fall to the ground beside me. Then, a group of about 3 boys run over to me.
"Whoa! Nash, why did you throw it so far, dude?" one of them says.
Another boy looks at me, "I'm so sorry, I didn't think it was gonna hit anyone!" And the third boy just laughs a little. I roll my eyes, and this is exactly why I don't like to talk to many people. The boys grab the beach ball, and start to walk away, but one of them turns around,
"You're really pretty, by the way," he says. I'm not flattered.
I just shrug, "I don't appreciate the sarcasm," He walks back to me.
"It's not sarcasm, though," he smiles. Now I'm just confused, why is this cute boy trying to flirt with me?
"Why are you flirting with me?" I blurt out.
He chuckles a little, "I've already told you. You're quite pretty,"
I finally let a small smile stretch across my face, "That's sweet of you but-"
"I'm Cameron," he says, holding his hand out for me to shake. I'm surprised that he's so formal.
I shake his hand, "I'm Chloe," He holds my hand for a little while, and I just end up blushing.
"Haha, aw, you're so cute! Would you want to come eat lunch with me and my friends?" he asks, his brown eyes full of happiness. I take a moment to think about it, but why not?
"Sure, let's go," you smile and follow him and his friends off the beach, over to the restaurant.
