Chapter 5:
It's about halfway through the movie, and Jack is really genuine. He's taking the movie seriously, unlike a lot of guys I know who would just laugh at it. He's been really quiet and polite, which is another plus. I look over to him, and he's watching the movie silently. I look back to the screen, and feel something behind my back, it's his arm. He just went for it. He puts his arm around me, and I smile. I lean my head on his shoulder as we watch the movie together.
The movies over, and he walks me out of the theatre, and it's raining! "Jack!" I yell and laugh as I get drenched in the rain. He looks around, "Come on!" he laughs, and pulls my arm. He pulls me into the grass, and we play in the rain. We run around, letting the rain fall on us. I run around, my hands in the air, having an amazing time. He grabs my arm again, his hair completely drenched. "Do I look ok?" he asks me, flashing that bright smile once again. I grab his hands, "Amazing," I laugh a little. We both stare at each other for a while, his hands in mine, as we both get more soaked every second. There's water in my shoes, and i'm sure my hair is a mess. It's a good thing I didn't wear make up today! He looks at me, and leans in a little. I know what's about to happen. It's just like the movies, the famous rain kiss. He looks at me for a minute, then softly kisses my lips. I don't know what to do. I kiss him back, and then realize I'm extremely drenched, and my shirt went from light blue to dark blue. I pull away, "Look, I should really get going. I'm drenched!" I say, feeling the rain drip down my back. He laughs, "I get it. I'll drop you off, alright?" he says to me. I nod, and he puts his arm around me as we walk down the sidewalk.
The sky is a light gray, and the clouds are heavy with rain. The rain pours more and more each second, literally flooding the streets. "This is really bad!" he says to me as we walk. I nod, too cold to say anything. I can see my house just down the road, "It's that way," I point. He leads me down the road and walks to the front of my door. "Alright, here's my number. Just give me a call and we'll hang out again, sometime?" I give it to him. He smiles to me, "Yeah!" I wave goodbye and he waves back, still looking adorable even in the heavy rain. Then he turns away, puts his hands in his pockets, and walks back down the road back home. I sigh because I feel bad for him, and then I close the door shut.
I smile to myself, and just slide onto the floor and sit with my back against the door. He was probably the sweetest boy I've ever met. I feel my lips and remember that kiss that seemed like it lasted forever. I smile to myself. I look on the floor and see that there's water running through the bottom of the door into the house. I hop up and run to the bathroom and fetch some towells to stuff under the door, but it's not gonna last forever. I set the towells underneath the door, and look outside the window. It's a flood; a really bad one. I sigh to myself. What am I supposed to do? My parents are at work and my brother's at his friends house again. I have to take care of this myself, but what can I do? I run up the stairs, which is the only dry part of the house. I change into some dry clothes and get cleaned up. I have a seat on my beanbag chair and open the blinds, so I can see the weather outside. It's not even clear, like I can't see anything outside at this point. The winds are so strong I can hear it through the window. The rain is pounding on my window, and now I'm beginning to get a little worried. BABOOM! I hear the thunder loud and clear, almost as if it were right above my head. CRACK! and then the echo of the fallen tree. That sounds like the tree just outside our house. I hear screaming, and more crashes. What's going on?! I run to the back window, and I can barely see what's going on. I'm able to see the fallen tree inside of the neighbors' house, and the gaping hole in their roof.
