END | WHAT ARE YOU SO SCARED OF?anthony stood over the grave with a wilted flower resting in his palm.
it had been a month since the events, and his friend matt had paid off the fee to get him out of jail. this was obviously to the dismay of jaren smith, the boy who had been suffering for 30 days over a dead boy.
anthony cared about jaren more than anything back then. why couldn't the other boy have seen that? he was so much better than the person he portrayed; jaren just hadn't realized it then.
he tightened the grip on his flowers (they were daisies). tears began to pool from his eyes as he looked down at the name of the grave. this was the boy that saved his life all those years ago. the boy that cared for him even when he knew he was wrong. the boy who introduced him to jaren smith: the most important thing in his life.
"i'm sorry i couldn't save you, brock. you didn't deserve this," anthony whimpered, laying down the flowers on the grave. it was all so surreal. the boy had died in a car crash a week ago; jaren was probably even more destroyed. "yet, i still have to thank you. you introduced me to the love of my life. i let that go in vain."
anthony looked up at the clouds. tears continued to pool out of his eyes and fall onto his puffy cheeks. he had really screwed everything up.
"what i did was bad, and for that, i'll never deserve jaren smith," anthony admitted, sobs raking his body. they came out in cycles, only getting louder and more heartbreaking every minute. "john was his perfect match, and i could never compete with that. i tried to kill john, brock. out of what? jealousy? rage?"
anthony walked away, holding in the tears while dialing a number. he almost called, but hesitated for a second. jaren despised him, and that may never change. he screwed up the boy's whole life.
"i may never get it, but i need some forgiveness."

PEOPLE CAN CHANGE.
jaren knew that. yet, it seemed so hard to believe when it came to anthony.
it was a sunny afternoon; jaren was too depressed to go outside. it was around three when jaren heard a knock, and craig had rushed to get the door.
jaren immediately heard screaming. he ran down the steps, heading towards the ruckus. and suddenly, his breath hitched in his throat and he felt all the memories come back. anthony brown was at his door with a pleading look in his eyes, and he was staring right at jaren.
is this what a nightmare felt like?
"what are you doing here?" jaren yelled, tears immediately threatening to come out of his eyes.
"please, just let me talk to you, jaren!"
"why should i?" jaren demanded, turning to face anthony with a glare. nothing could convince the boy to talk to anthony. nothing-
"john's still alive, and he needs your help."
DON'T BE SCARED, JAREN. I'LL ALWAYS BE BY YOUR SIDE.
