"Erik!" I yell from our bedroom.
"Yes, Christine?" he hurries in, looking around frantically as I laugh.
"I'm fine, no one will find us here!" I try and reassure him as he walks over to me and says in a demanding tone, "Anyone could."
"I am going to tell you something and I do not know how you will see it!" I warn him even though I am putting it off.
"Please, mon ange, tell me!" he pleads as he reaches for my hands.
"Umm...I found out I have Coronary artery disease!" I tell him, squeezing his hands as I wait for an answer.
"A-A what?" he stutters, getting up as he starts pacing quickly around the bedroom.
"It is a disease where it clogs my arteries, causing me to have tight pain, heartburn, I feel weak and sick!" I explain.
He is silent, and his expression is unreadable as I am explaining.
"H-How have I not noticed this?" he asks in disbelief as he gets up and paces our room.
"Erik, I-I do not know when it started, the signs were quite unbelievable!" I explain to him.
"When did these occur?" he asks me, walking close to me as he towers over me, him being 6'4.
"A-A few weeks ago, beginning of this month!" I stutter, frightened by how he'll react.
"A few weeks, you have kept this from me three weeks, three weeks, Christine?" he raises his voice, staring straight at me.
I start to shake as I stand up from the bed, briskly walking to our bathroom, feeling light-headed.
I hear Erik follow me; I feel a hand on my arm as I turn around and see a blurry picture of him.
"Christine, I apologize, I am just upset you did not tell me earlier!" he explains as I nod, looking down as everything moves in slow motion.
"Mi Amour, are you alright?" he asks me as I shake my head, falling into his chest as I collapse and blackout.
A While Later
Waking up in our bed, I look around for Erik but I do not see him.
I then see a figure through the curtain walking toward me; my eyes still seeing blurry, I strain my eyes to see who it is.
He opens the curtain and I relax when I see it is Erik.
Sitting down on the bed, he holds a damp rag to my forehead, smiling as he says, "Are you alright?"
"Y-yeah!" I whisper quietly as I cough, feeling overheated.
Removing the cloth from my forehead he feels my head and retracts his hand as he says, "You are burning up, Christine!"
"I-I know, I still feel light-headed but now I feel hotter and nauseous!" I tell him.
"I shall make you some food mi amour!" he tells me as he briskly walks away.
How have I gotten this?
It frightens me so.
A few minutes later Erik comes in holding a bowl in his hands.
"I made you soup, my Christine!" he tells me, setting it down on the table next to me.
"Why isn't it warm, my love?" I ask him, peering into the contents of the bowl.
"You're burning up, I did not wish to make it worsen," he explains.
He helps me sit up and drink it to help soothe me.
"Do you feel any better?" he asks me as I nod, smiling at him.
A Few Weeks Later
It's been a month or so since my Christine divulged me that she had a heart disease.
It startled me at first, hearing the news.
I was mad at myself for not realizing she wasn't feeling the best.
She tried hard to hide it from me.
She's back to her old self now and is feeling much better and soon she shall be 30.
Today is her celebration, I have a surprise set up for her.
I've been working on it for months now, perfecting it.
"My Christine!" I sing to her from the other room; I hear her hurry into the room.
When she appears in the doorway I motion for her to come sit next to me on my piano.
"What's this?" she asks me as I smile, gracefully playing the keys.
"Just a song I wrote for you..." I sing softly, I can see her smiling out of the corner of my eye.
"Christine, my Christine, my sun and my moon, ahhh Christine!"
"You are my dream, ahhh Christine, how glad I was when we wed, my Christine!"
Finishing that phrase I look over at her and do not see her near me.
Frantically, I look around, getting up from my seat.
I see her figure lying on the ground beside the piano.
"My Christine, oh Christine, I love you!!" I bend down beside her, weeping.
I will never forget my Angel of Music!
In loving memory
