Hayden

It's Monday, my brother finally started school and my parents are working, which means I got the house all to myself. I'm not working yet, I had a part time job at a coffeehouse back in New York, but you can't transfer jobs like that. Which sucks, because now I don't have shit to do until I get one.

If it's like the last time, it will take some time until I get one. I didn't realise how hard it is to get jobs until I started looking. People really are picky about who they hire and not. Not really looking forward to writing work applications again, but you do what you gotta do.

Anyway, since it's the end of May, I'm trying to get somewhat of a tan. Most of our yard is at the front of the house, but I don't complain. We have a fence around so people can't randomly run inside out property, even though it's LA I doubt people even do that.

"Hey Hayden!" I heard someone yell, looking up from the book I was reading, I saw Sam on the other side of the street. I stood up and walked over to the fence. "What's up Sam?" I asked and smiled.

He waved me to come over, so I put on my shorts and guns n' roses t-shirt before walking over to him. "Hey." I said as I walked up to him, curious of what he wanted. I hadn't seen him or the others in a few days, because I've been too busy helping my family unpacking everything and settling in.

"Do you want to meet the others? You only met Colby, Jake and Corey right?" He asked me with a sweet smile, Sam seems like a great guy. I really think we will be good friends. I agreed with him and followed after him. "My girlfriend is also over, I think you guys will hit it off great!" He beamed and ginned at the thought of his girlfriend, I awed at him.

He didn't tell me that he had a girlfriend last time we met, but I'm happy he has someone to make him happy. Sometimes I wish I had that too, but all of my past relationships have been crap. I always find a way to ruin them, so I've kinda given up.

We walked inside and I followed him to the kitchen where everyone apparently were. As we walked in, Corey and Jake said hello to me with a smile. "Kat, Aaron and Devyn, this Hayden. The girl who moved in across the street." Sam told them, while I just gave an awkward wave, which made Sam laugh by the way.

"It's so nice to meet you! Sam told me that they helped you a few days ago." Kat said, I wonder if that is her name or nickname? I probably find that out later. For now I just have guess it is. "Nice to meet you too. So do you all live here?" I asked, slightly confused. I'm not good at remembering things like that, so I get easily lost.

"No, it's just Sam, Colby, Corey, Devyn, Aaron and Jake who live here." She said, my eyes got big at that. This is basically a frat house, I thought to myself. "We have different definitions of just." I laughed, so did they.

"Yeah I guess we're quite a few people." Aaron answered in a awkward tone, making me smile. Great that I'm not the only one awkward here. "You could say that, basically a frat house. Well except for Devyn." I joked, trying to be funny.

We ended up just standing around in the kitchen talking about everything and nothing, getting to know each other better. As Kat said, we probably will hang out again so might as well. They all seemed like great people. At some point I felt someone stare at me, when I looked over I saw Colby staring at me. The same dude who kept glaring at me.

Feeling uneasy - I raised my brow and gave him a questioning look. Not feeling comfortable with someone just staring at me without a purpose. Colby just looked away like nothing happened, I just shook my head. Weird boy was the only thing I thought.

Suddenly my phone ran, I took it out of my jeans and answered without thinking.

Hayden: Hello, mom?

Mom: Where are you! You can't just leave the house without locking it, how irresponsible are you?!

She yelled, my eyes widened at her tone. Knowing I would be in trouble as soon as I stepped inside the house.

Hayden: Alright calm down, no need to go crazy. I'm just across the street.

She just continued yelling at me, my face turned red as the others probably heard everything since they stopped talking and were looking at me. After probably two minutes of listening to my mom yelling at me, she hang up telling me to come home.

I looked up from the ground, still red as a tomato. Scratching the back of my neck I just looked at the others for a few moments. "I'm sorry I have to go, I'm about to be killed." I said and chuckled, but actually pretty scared. She didn't sound the slightest happy.

"That's alright, have fun with that." Sam lightly laughed. We said our goodbyes and I ran home, trying to man up on the way. I knew it was about to go down, and who's ever ready for that?

Good luck me.

(A/N)I really hate filler chapters, but I also hate just going right to the point. What is the fun with that?
