"Greetings fellow graduates. Right before we start this new chapter of our lives we look back upon how much we've grown. Whether it be from a dorky little kid with glasses and braces to a confident adult or someone starting with nothing and finding everything we have all changed tremendously. However, I find that humans as a group tend to dwell more on the bad things than the good, I know I do. The bad things leave a lasting impression on us because these are the things that shape us the most. That one bad test grade you had that brought your grade so low you could hardly recover from, that terrible breakup you had with your boyfriend or girlfriend, the death in your family that yours still not completely over, the list goes on and on. The memory that weighs you down the most is usually the one you learned a lesson from. Everyone has those, I have it, and I'm here today to share it with you. I have loved the same girl for the past 13 years. She was my first friend, my best friend and now my girlfriend. Yes, I'm talking about Éponine Thenardier. I had wanted to ask her out for years but I was afraid. She had been through so much would she really want another thing on her conscious. So I waited, and waited, and waited. However I waited too long. I lost my chance to be with her at the beginning of this year and I always feel that it's my fault for what happened. I felt that I had failed her as a friend and I will always remember her face when I found out the truth. It still haunts me today and I have not yet gotten over it. It's weighing me down, like I'm holding the weight of the world on my shoulders. However, I will learn from this memory. I will learn to take action sooner and not wait for something amazing to happen because usually it doesn't. You have to be the one to have enough courage to take on any obstacle you face. You can't wait for the obstacle to not exist anymore because then you will be behind. Take action and take control of your lives and your futures. Be the catalyst and go for your goal, your dream. You just have to be brave enough to take the chance. I wish all of you the best of luck in the future. Thank you all for making these years some to remember" Enjolras concluded.
He took a deep breath and stepped back from the podium. He watched as everyone stood to applaud his speech. He scanned the crowd and found Éponine. She had a huge smile on her face but he could see the tears that streaked her face. He walked off the stage and took his seat next to her.
She immediately grasped his hand and kissed his face. "You know" she began, "I'm glad you didn't tell me your speech. It left the surprise and beauty for the moment. It was inspiring" she said.
He laughed softly, "What can I say, you're my muse" he said sweetly. He saw Éponine's cheeks flush and she looked away. She was beautiful and she was finally his. He memorized every detail on her face, her slight smile and the dimple in the middle of her cheek, her deep brown eyes, her hair falling on her face slightly. He never wanted to forget this moment. This was the girl he fell in love with all those years ago and finally they were together. The path ahead of them was unknown but judging from all the obstacles they've tackled and conquered over the years, he had no doubts.
