Her paws weren't silver, and she was missing her one white paw. Instead, her legs were shorter and a creamy tan color. She tried to move, but found that she couldn't. It was like she was merely seeing out of the eyes of someone else. It was confusing. She could see, but she couldn't control her movements. She felt herself move forward, towards the edge of the lake.
She bent down to lap some of the water, then lifted her muzzle and paused to look at her reflection. Beekit was staring back at her, straight into her eyes. She looked up and gazed across the windblown lake, ripping and shining in the sunlight. As she sat there, enjoying the silence, she slowly began to get the sensation that she was being watched. But being so distracted by the warmth, the rippling water, and the tiny fish darting around under the surface, she didn't notice the danger until it was nearly upon her.
The peaceful silence of the lake was shattered as something large and well muscled leaped onto her. She twisted around, trying to catch a glimpse of her attacker. The flashes of copper fur and the sour scent that engulfed her senses were enough to tell her that a fox was the one attacking her.  The fox was far too large to fight off, and she hadn't had any training yet. She was helpless.
She screeched in agony as sharp claws ripped through her soft fur, drawing blood as she twisted around in an attempt to escape. As her struggles grew weaker, she hardly noticed the pain. A black mist began creeping into her line of vision. And as the darkness overwhelmed her, she caught one last glimpse of the fox's teeth, lunging towards her face. The pain had seemed so real, which is why Silverkit was confused when she opened her eyes to find herself crouched on the forest floor.
She was in the same spot from when she first felt the pain in her head. She was confused, wondering how she could have moved locations so fast. Then it hit her. She must have been seeing through Beekit's eyes. A jolt of fear shot through the her body as realization sparked in her mind. Beekit was in serious trouble, and Silverkit was the only one who knew about it. She pounded across the ground, leaping over branches and under roots, gasping for breath but still willing herself to go faster.
As she was running, a tree branch loomed out of nowhere, and she swiftly swerved to the side to avoid it. As she rounded the fallen branch, she turned to look back at it, careening into something solid and furry. She fell back in terror, hoping it wasn't another fox. But the scent soon reached her nose and she instantly recognized it. Sprucepaw! Sprucepaw stalked up to her, his tail twitching disapprovingly. She tensed as he drew closer. She didn't want to disappoint him, but she needed to hurry. "What are you doing by yourself? Are you alright?" he asked.
His disapproving words had an underlying tone of concern. She relaxed slightly, at least he wasn't mad at her. "Sprucepaw, listen, something bad happened to Beekit, and she needs help." she said anxiously. "How do you know?" he asked curiously. "I had-," she started to tell him about her dream, but something stopped her. "I just have a feeling, but I don't think I'm wrong. Will you please help me?" Sprucepaw must have picked up on her urgent tone of voice, because he straightened up and gave her a swift nod.
"Lead the way." she dipped her head, then turned and pelted into the forest, Sprucepaw close behind her. Sprucepaw kept pace with her shorter, undeveloped legs as they sprinted through the trees. After a few agonizing minutes of running, they burst through the trees onto the lakeshore. Silverkit immediately spotted Beekit, the bloody scene was easy to see. Ignoring Sprucepaw's warning, Silverkit raced towards her sister. As she reached her sister's limp body, she gasped in horror.
She didn't even recognize her face. There was a pool of blood leaking from her stomach. Silverkit fearfully nudged her sister's side, hoping for some sign of life. But from what she could see, Beekit was dead.
