Chp 1

Your name is Ashley Johnson. You were friends with Jim Halpert when you were both younger. As you guys got older you started dating But when he moved to Scranton you guys had to break up and soon lost contact. 

**RECAP**

You were standing at the gate with tears in your eyes as well as Jims.

"I don't want you to leave" I said while hugging him and crying.

"I know but we can still text each other and call each other. It will be like I never left" he said.

"but why do you have to move to Scranton?" 

"because my mom got a job there and it is a big opportunity for her but believe me I don't want to go and leave you behind"

"Flight to Scranton now boarding" the lady said over the intercom. 

"I guess I better go" he said.

you started crying more. 

"goodbye Jim"

"hey why don't we just say see you later"

"okay see you later"

he kissed you on your lips but you knew that was it for a long time. 

You watched him hand his ticket to the lady and start to walk towards the tunnel. He turned back and gave you a wave and you did the same.

**10 years later**

You were now 23 living in L.A. California. You lived in an apartment with your best friend Katie. You worked at a local theater while trying to follow your dreams of becoming a famous singer. However it wasn't going as planned and it was a lot harder than you thought. 

You woke up this morning like any morning. You got in the shower dried your hair did a full face of makeup and got dressed in jeans and a nice top since you were going to work. You went out into the den to find Katie watching friends.

"good morning" I said to her.

"oh hey you going to work?"

"yeah unfortunately."

"girl if you don't like it switch jobs" she said.

"I know but it barely pays the rent"

"I understand"

Katie worked at a apartment complex at the front desk. 

"look if you need me to help out your share of the rent this month I can"

"Katie no I need to follow through with what I told you I can do"

"okay but I'm here if you need me"

"thanks girl I'll be back around 5"

"alright see you later"

you got in your car and drove to the local theater where you worked in the box office. You didn't do much work there besides answer the phone and emails. It only really got busy when there was a show. 

You walked in and clocked in. You put your stuff down and got on the computer. After you answered all the emails you decided to get on Facebook. You noticed a familiar name popped up in your mutual add friends box

Jim Halpert.

You decided to click on it. You saw his profile picture and he was extremely handsome now. I mean he always was but now he was even more that he had grown into his looks.

You eyes started to water as you went through his photos. All the good memories were coming back and you hated that you lost contact with him over the years. You laid your courser over the add friend box but then decided not to hit it. Soon it was 5 and you packed up your stuff. You went home and Katie still wasn't there since she got off work at 7. 

You made some dinner and went to your room. You got out a box underneath your bed. It was photos of you and Jim. The first one you pulled out you guys were smiling big as ever in a tree. This was when you guys first started dating. The next photo was of us at some restaurant celebrating my birthday. He was messing with my hair in the photo. He was always a joker. You saw a rose that was all dried up and remembered this was the rose he gave you when he asked you to be his girlfriend. There were more things in the box but you couldn't handle it. You started crying and put the box back. 

Katie came home

"Hey ash..oh my gosh are you okay?!" she asked running to my bed.

"no" I said shaking my head.

"what happened? Was it something at work?"

"no its Jim"

she knew all about how I still missed him even after 10 years. I had dated some more guys since Jim but hadn't found one as good as him. 

"its alright honey" she said as she hugged me.

"I just can't get him out of my head. I came across his facebook today at work"

"why don't you try talking to him?"

"I can't he probably doesn't even remember me" I said. 

"oh I bet he would you were his first love"

"it just wasn't meant to be" I said crying a little less.

she hugged me as I continued to cry. 

**Next Day**

The next day I got a call from work.

"Hey Brandon whats up?"

"Hey Ash so bad news the theater is closing"

"what?!"

"yeah we just aren't making enough money to keep it open"

"I understand" I said as I let out a sigh

"we will send you your last paycheck"

"thanks Brandon"

you hung up.

"who was that?" Katie asked.

"my boss apparently I just lost  my job due to the theater closing"

"are you serious?!"

"yup guess I have to look for another job now"

you got on your computer and typed in receptionist jobs since that's something you were pretty familiar with. You knew you needed to make more money. You saw an availability in Scranton at a place called Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Your mind instantly went back to Jim.

"hey Katie"

"yeah?"

"it says here there is a job opening in Scranton with a place called Dunder Mifflin"

"oh really?" she said.

"yeah I was thinking since I missed Jim so much I should just take a job there"

"but you don't even know where he lives or where he works"

"true but maybe once I get there I'll add him as a friend and let him know I'm in the area"

"true that"

"so your fine if I move there?"

"girl you do whatever you want"

"will you come with me?"

"I can't I need the job here but you do what you want I'll be okay"

"thanks so much" I said while giving her a big hug. 

You put in your application and waited for a response.
