Jim POV:
I was so happy that Ashley came to Scranton. Who would've thought we would end up working at the same place! Seeing her again brought back all the fun memories we had together and made me feel joy again.
Ashley POV:
I walked into the new office I just begun working at. I sat at the receptionist desk. Pam was no longer here anymore she moved with her boyfriend Roy so it was all me today by myself. I have to admit I was a bit nervous but the best thing about this job was I got to stare at my best friend all day.
Jim walked over to my desk after about an hour.
"so how are things going?"
"well Jim I've only been working for an hour so not too much" I said laughing
"what? I can't check up on you on your first day?" he said laughing.
"I appreciate it thanks. I am nervous but I'm really happy to be here too"
"well if you need anything just let me know"
"thanks" I said smiling with a stupid huge grin.
I worked for a few more hours when a guy with short brown hair and a striped color tie approached me.
He put his hands on the desk before speaking
"Hey I'm Andy and I think your cute there is no getting around it. I was thinking if your not busy tonight we could get together listen to some music. I play the banjo. Chicks dig it."
I looked at him with a confused look on my face before I could even respond
"think about it"
he walked off and I already knew my answer. I was just trying to recover myself from that weird situation.
Jim POV:
I went to the break room to eat my lunch when Andy came and sat down next to me.
"so tuna your good friends with the new girl right?"
"I mean its been 10 years but I guess you could say so"
"well I extended an invitation for a date night to her."
I stopped eating
"you asked out Ashley?"
"yeah she didn't answer just told her to think about it"
"what uh attracted you to her?"
"really tuna? I mean first off she's extremely cute and yeah that's pretty much it"
"well how do you know she's not a serial killer?"
he then had a dumb scared look on his face. I left him with his thoughts and went to go talk to Ashley.
"so I heard Andy asked you out?" I said grinning
"oh my gosh I really do not want to talk about it. I have never felt so weird in a situation before"
Jim laughed
"well if your turning him down do you want to go out to eat tonight?"
"yeah sure that sounds like fun"
"awesome"
I was really excited to hang out with Jim tonight. I never once lost any feelings for him and I hoped he felt the same way about me.
I waited for what felt like decades for 5 o'clock to come. When it finally did I shot up from my desk and grabbed my stuff. I walked over to Jims desk.
"so Halpert where are we going tonight?"
"I was thinking on the roof"
"what?"
"I'll show you"
sure enough he wasn't kidding. He had grilled cheese sandwiches made candles and two chairs out.
"I remember how you use to like the little things in life. Really simple things."
"I can't believe you actually remembered that"
we sat down and talked about what seemed like everything. Our past, work, what we plan to do in the future.
"you know Jim. I'm so thankful we got to do this. I hated how we lost touch over the years"
"I know me too. But now we can rebuild what we had. I still feel like were really good friends"
"me too. I don't ever want that to change"
"and I don't plan on it" he said smiling.
"well its getting late I should probably head back home"
"yeah me too. See you tomorrow Ash"
"see you tomorrow Jim" I said smiling.
