Chp 5

Ashley POV:

I came into work set my stuff down and didn't look over at Jim's desk once. I could hear his feet walk over to my desk.

"hey ash"

"hey" I responded not even looking up from my computer to make eye contact. 

"I think you and I need to talk"

"so talk" I said looking at him directly in the eye with both my arms crossed. 

he chuckled a bit

"oh I uh mean in private"

I saw Cathy and just about everyone else looking at us.

"fine you have two minutes" I said then got up and walked with him out into the hallway. 

"Do you still have feelings for me?" he asked

"let me ask you that same question" I said back

"Ashley, I haven't stopped thinking about you since the day I left you. I wanted to be back with you but we could never seem to get in contact. Now that your here and back I feel like my old self again. Like things are normal and familiar."

my anger face softened. I knew exactly how he felt because I felt the same way. 

"Honestly Jim I-" 

"Hey guys Michael wants us in the conference room" Cathy said interrupting me. I knew she was doing this on purpose by the look she gave me. I wanted to cry. I tried telling Jim quickly but he was already walking back in suite 200. 

"we'll catch up later ok?" 

I shook my head yes but my facial expressions didn't match. I was worried and I knew I looked like it too. 

As I walked into the conference room I tried to sit by Jim but of course Cathy practically pushed me over trying to get to him. So I sat by Andy instead. I was barely listening but something about casino night tonight at 7 pm in the warehouse. 

I got up and went back to my desk. I kept seeing Cathy glare and snicker at me. I just gave her a glare back and tried to ignore it. When work was over I went home and changed into a short red dress for casino night. Seemed to be very fitting for the title. When I got there everyone was having fun and I tried to go along with it. After a while Jim found me.

"hey! Ashley!" he said hugging me.

"Hey Jim!"

"want to play some poker?"

"sure that sounds like fun!"

I was really enjoying myself and the time I had with him when Cathy came up and ruined it all. 

"Hey Ashley do you mind getting us some drinks?"

"I'm not a waiter"

Jim laughed at my comment. Cathy just rolled her eyes and left. 

"that was a pretty good one"

"thanks Jim"

"do you want to go outside for a minute?" he asked me

"yeah sure"

"okay so we didn't get to finish our conversation earlier. Basically Ashley I'm in-"

"oh my gosh Jim I couldn't find you! I was looking for you everywhere!" Cathy said hugging him

"I was going to go get a drink anyway" I said 

I went back inside and saw Andy and Ryan with Kelly at the bar.

"hey guys"

"hey Ashley sup" Andy said

"oh my gosh Ashley aren't you so mad at Cathy?" Kelly asked

"no why?"

I was completely lying

"she's stealing Jim away"

"no she's not" Andy intervened. 

"Jim and I are just friends. He can do what he wants" I stated. 

"well why don't you go take this to tuna" Andy said pushing a beer towards me. 

"fine I will"

As I took the beer and went looking for him I couldn't find him anywhere. I went into the parking lot by his car and I saw him and Cathy kissing. I dropped the beer causing a huge sound of shattering glass to make them stop. 

I started crying and Jim tried to come near me

"no stop! Get away from me right now! I guess all of that earlier today was just a bunch of bs right?!" 

I ran back into the warehouse crying. 

Jim POV:

Ashley left Cathy and I alone which I hated. I wanted Ashley she was so beautiful, smart, and just overall perfect. I tried to go back inside but Cathy wouldn't let me. I tried to get in my car to leave but she was so persistent. That's when Cathy started kissing me and before I even had time to push her off Ashley showed up seeing it. I could see the hurt in her eyes. I had no idea what to do or say. 

"well hopefully that will get her to leave us alone"

"you know what Cathy all night I've been trying to get you away from me because quite frankly I do not like you. I like Ashley and you are ruining any chance of me getting back together with her!"

"thats kind of the point"

"if you ever come around me again you'll regret it" I said

Ashley POV:

I ran into the warehouse crying when I bumped into Andy. 

"Ashley whats wrong?"

"Jim he-he-" 

I couldn't even get the words out because of how hard I was crying

"here lets go somewhere more quiet"

we went into our suite and just talked

"what happened?" Andy asked me once we sat down

"Cathy and Jim were kissing" I said letting more and more tears out than I ever knew I could hold. 

"what?"

"she's been trying to sabotage any chance of us getting back together and she really did this time"

"Ashley there's gotta be some explanation"

"no not at all shes a pretty girl and obviously Jim likes her more than me and he never cared about me!!!"

"Ashley believe me that's not true at all. He really does care for you."

"then why is he kissing some other girl? Why aren't we together?"

"I don't know life can just be weird sometimes. But you guys will get together one day. Just don't ever give up"

"Thanks Andy. I'm going to go home but I'll see you Monday"

"okay see ya if you need anything I'm always here"

I nodded my head and left
