Shanice POV
*
It's been a few weeks since the breakup and I'm honestly mad enough to throat punch somebody. I was forced to accept that Dee lost interest in me a long time ago and wanted to break up all along. He probably dragged the relationship out for so long because he felt bad for me or whatever. That was a hard enough pill to swallow.
But now Dee is forcing his new 'relationship' down my throat basically. It's like wherever I go I see them hugged up acting all lovey dovey and shit. We have no classes near each other so I know he's going out of his way to be in my face with this shit. Not only that but I think the drama has gotten worse since the break up.
First I was ridiculed for being stupid and staying with him knowing his infidelity issues. Now I'm being called a hoe, liar and cheater because of that stupid ass post. I can't win for losing. It's like no matter what I do I'm hit with bull shit after bull shit.
"You okay?" I snapped out of my daze and looked at Grant. We were currently in the library doing some work together. "You look like you're ready to attack somebody. It's not me right?"
"No," I sighed rubbing my temples. "Just thinking."
"About Dee right?"
"Yeah I guess," I mumbled. "I'm just over all this drama. It's like no matter where I am he's always right there. Forcing me to watch him and his stupid ass girlfriend eat each other's faces off. It's bad enough I had to find out he really wanted to break up all along from a stupid ass instagram post but it's like I have even more drama now that we're broken up. It's exhausting."
"I know what you mean. And I get why you might want to do something crazy but ignore it and them. Be the bigger person. We both know he's only doing that because he's upset about the breakup. Dee's the kind of guy who doesn't like admitting defeat so he thinks he lost you to me and is upset about it."
"After everything he's done he has no right to be."
"Yeah well, he is. Maybe he still has feelings for you and never expected you to end things with him. Considering he still feels the need to sick his friends on me I won't rule it out."
I snapped my head to him. "He does that? Ooh I'm going to kick his ass."
"Don't worry about it. I'm not worried about a few guys doing petty things like knocking my stuff out of my hands or whatever. It's childish but it's not like it's hurting me or whatever. I can handle any petty things those guys dish out."
"I guess but he shouldn't be coming at you any way. I can't believe him. Stupid jerk."
"Hey let's go out," he said.
"What?"
"You've been going through all this drama with Dee I thought you'd like to escape for a while. Plus it's Halloween and there are tons of things to do around this time. There's some parties on campus that I'm sure you don't want to go to but there are clubs hosting things. Or we can skip the partying and go trick or treating."
"Trick or treating?" I chuckled. "How old are you? Five?"
"Five and a half," he smirked making me roll my eyes. That's technically true since his birthday is on February 29th. He used to always joke about only being a toddler his entire life.
"That joke is old," I said.
"You're old."
"Fuck you jerk," I laughed tossing a piece of paper at him.
"Come on hag. Let's go have fun," he said childishly. "I'll even buy the costumes."
"You're a big ass kid. But okay. Let's go have some fun."
"You're only agreeing because I said I'd buy the costumes. Gold digger."
"You have to have gold for me to dig my guy." We headed to his car and went downtown to find some costumes. It was fun to just hang out with each other and not worry about all the drama waiting for me. It's like the moment I leave campus all of my problems wash away. "I'm not going as a mustard bottle," I folded my arms and glared at Grant.
"Why not?"
"I hate mustard."
"I'm not telling you to eat it dummy."
"Asshole I don't want to dress up as it either. I'm not going to a club in a hot ass mascot uniform."
"Who would have mustard as a mascot?"
"Shut up dick you know what I mean. It's not cool and it's not happening."
"Geez you're picky. How about we go as characters from Harry Potter?"
"I don't know even know what that is."
"I don't think this is going to work out between us Shani," Grant said seriously. "It's not me it's you."
"I hate you," I laughed pushing him lightly.
"That's my line. How dare you not know about Harry Potter? I'm going to make you watch the entire series now."
"Eh," I shrugged. "I've heard of it but didn't take time out to watch. Didn't seem that interesting."
"I'm so disappointed in you." He was looking through the racks of the costume place. "Oh I found something."
"Is it another terrible nerdy costume?" I walked up behind him to see.
"Nope. I think this is right up your alley. Throw back to the 90s cartoons." He showed the Popeye and Olive costume accessories. "I don't think they have your size but we can go and find a dress or something similar to what she wears."
"Awe I love it. Let's do it. Popeye was my favorite. Although I resent him for lying to me about that spinach. I tried it once and the shit was disgusting nor did it make me stronger. Made me sick."
"Why'd you get sick?"
"I ate it straight from the can like he does," I mumbled. He started laughing while I glared a hole in the side of his face. We went around a few places to get everything needed for my costume but made it back with time to spare. Grant went to his place to change while I went up to my apartment. "Vickie!"
"Present!" She said walking into the living room with her phone in her hand. Probably talking to Titus since his big head ass is in another state for an away game. "Ooh you went shopping?"
"Kind of. Grant convinced me to go to a costume party with him so we got some stuff."
"Ooh costume party with Grant huh? Go bitch."
I chuckled. "Yeah. So I just wanted to let you know where I was going to be tonight. Unless you want to join us?"
"Girl don't worry about my lonely ass. I don't want to intrude on y'all date. Go have fun for the both of us okurr!"
"Alright Cardi. And it's not a date."
"Your ass. Enjoy yourself love."
"I will." I went to my room to shower and get changed. Out of all the time I spent here and all the parties I attended none of them was an actual costume party. I'm a bit excited to go for the first time.
Sorry for the delay. Got caught up. Hope you all enjoy. Tell me what you all think.
