Chapter ten:
At the family dinner
"How does it feel to be apart of the family" some lady asked me
"It's decent" I said taking a bite of my chicken
"That's not how you speak" the same lady from the funeral said
"Why are you worried about our conversation" I said putting my fork down
"Because that's my sister you're talking too" she said putting her plate down
"Okay and she asked me a question and I answered I said it's decent period" I said and took another bite of chicken
"You know your attitude is really horrible... people try to be nice and you act like you just oh so perfect" she said rolling her eyes stepping toward me
"Oh trust and believe my life was never perfect... nor did I say it was. What's your problem with me you been acting like a bitch since I joined this family" I stood up stepping towards her.
"I don't think you should share a blood line with this family.... you're too ghetto" she said
"I don't even share a blood line with y'all and baby best believe I can get ghetto... you haven't seen ghetto yet" I said getting in her face
"Oooohhhhhhh miss missy here don't know" she said chuckling in my face
"I don't know what" I said looking confused
"Star stop" I heard a different lady say
"Nooo she wanna be all big and bad let me knock her down a little bit" star said with a smirk
"Baby you can't knock me down... I'm good I'm straight" I said wiping my shoulders sarcastically
"You know that so called lady that adopted you..that's really your biological mother.... Evonne Johnson is her maiden name"
Suddenly it got real quiet and I just stood there shocked not knowing what to do.... so many thoughts were running through my head. I couldn't believe what I heard and as I look through the corner of my eye i see Evonne looking at me and everybody around me staring like they knew and didn't want to tell me.
"Oh babygirl quiet now" Star said sitting down with her plate of food
I didn't know how to react. I'm just in disbelief. I'm embarrassed. Like why in the hell did they wanna wait at this exact moment. They had plenty of chances..... As I'm thinking I just looked at Star and all I remember was punching her repeatedly in the face and Jack grabbing me and pulling me into the back yard by the pool.
"Is this true.... YOU KNEW ABOUT THIS" i said yelling
"No I didn't know." Jack said with his arms crossed
Next thing you know I see Evonne coming out
"Look I can explain" Evonne said
"Save it bitch I don't want to hear SHIT" I said angrily
"I deserved that" Evonne said
"Naw bitch you deserve way more then that" I said
I started walking towards her and jack stepped in between us so I couldn't reach her.... so I just got all the spit I could and launched it at her and spit right on her.
"Dumb bitch I'll kill you"
"Okay now you went to far"Jack said pushing me out the yard
"Why you defending that hoe" I said
"Because that's still my wife and the mother to my two kids"
I looked at Jack and he was like my second father he reminded me so much of my dad. I looked over his shoulder and saw Evonne standing there wiping my spit off. I don't care I don't have sympathy for her she didn't have sympathy for me.
"Whatever dawg I'm out" I snatched away from him walking through the French sliding doors through the house
"Are you okay..."some lady asked me
"Hell naw I'm outta here" I said putting on my shoes
"I'm Janice by the way" she said
"I don't give a fuck what yo name is" I said grabbing my phone walking out slamming the door
As I'm walking down the street I dial my best friend Rachel's number.
