Chapter 11

In the car (we took Michael's and all had to squeeze into it like a clown car) we all sang along to 21st century breakdown by Green Day. All the boys have such great voices and Alice, Brooklyn and I have pretty good voices so it sounded really good actually. We finally got to the first address on the map.

"Mini golf? Isn't this for like, mini people? Just look at Luke. He's like 9 feet tall how the hell is he going to play this?" I asked.

"I am not!" Luke protested.

"Oh come on Vi! It'll be fun!" Alice said while grabbing my hand and running to get the golf clubs.

As soon as the guy saw me his eyes widened.

"You're Johnny and Britt's kid! I can tell by the eyes." He said excitedly and took me into a hug. "I knew you'd come here one day, Violet!" I laughed and hugged him back.

"I'm sorry I don't know you but yeah I'm Violet."

"I'm Matthew. You're parents and their friends came here every weekend on summer. I'm so glad to see you. I can't even believe you're here. You're mom did send you right...?" He asked growing kind of nervous.

"Yeah of course! She gave me a whole map of places to go." I explained as Brooklyn and the boys all approached behind me.

"Are these your friends" I nodded and introduced all of them to him.

"All of you play free!" Matthew said and we all cheered.

Ashton and Brooklyn fought over the pink ball, Brooklyn one of course.

"I am the one and only king of mini golf!" Michael proclaimed triumphantly before any of us even golfed.

"Oh yeah? I say I'm better than you." I tell him confidently.

"Really? I bet I can kick your ass. Watch this." He put the neon ball down and hit it with his club.

"God dammit!" He screamed as he hit it into the pond.

"That was cute, Clifford." I say and put my ball down. I hit it directly into the hole. Everyone's eyes widen and their jaws drop.

"Game on." I tell him and wink.

At hole 8 Michael and I were tied when Alice and Brooklyn pulled me to the side.

"He likes you." They both say at the same time.

"Who Michael? No way." I tell them and roll my eyes.

"He keeps looking at you in such a.... a thirsty way." Alice tells me as I burst into laughter.

"Yeah okay I'll buy him a water later." I say and walk off. What if he does like me?

When we get to hole 18 we're still tied. Michael swings and gets a hole in one.

"Top that!" He yells and Slams his club on the ground.

"Okay." I say and wink. Hole in one.

We both look at each other.

"I guess we're King and Queen?" I ask.

Instead of responding he puts his hand on my cheek and presses his lips to mine.

My mind goes completely blank until he pulls away.

"King and Queen."
