I woke up sweating from a terrible dream. My face was hot and my head hurt. In my dream my mom left and I had to stay with the Hemmings forever. I don't know which part was worse, losing another parent or staying with the Hemmings for 2 more years until I turned 18. That also reminds me how I will be at their house on my birthday. "Oh Violet I'm glad you're up! We'll be there in about 30 minutes. You slept nearly 10 hours!" Oh my god did I really? I don't even remember falling asleep. "Sorry Mom, I didn't really sleep well last night." I checked my phone. It really was 1:30 in the afternoon. I had a text from Alice and Brooklyn- "We miss you too! Love you so much!" I almost teared up. I responded- "I love you guys too<3." I hope we can stay in contact the entire time so I don't have to talk to anyone else. I wish they could have just come with me. "Vi, I didn't want to wake you so I just got you an Egg McMuffin any way. I'd eat it fast though, we're almost there." Ugh, almost there. "No thanks Mom, I just don't think I can stomach that right now.'' My mom looked worried almost, maybe she thought I was depressed or something. "Okay sweetie, this is the street. Remember, be nice and don't cuss too much. Or, actually, try not to cuss at all." I rolled my eyes. We pulled into a modern two story house. It was boring, just like them. Shocker. The door swung open and out walked the Hemmings. Oh my god. Lilly is beautiful! And Luke! He's not... Well... ugly, he's actually attractive. I got out of the car and smiled warmly. It was fake, but convincing. "Hi..." I said awkwardly. Liz covered her mouth in awe. "Oh my gosh! Look how beautiful you are!" she ran over to hug me. "Thank you!" I smiled at her. "Hey Luke, why don't you grab Violets bag and show her to her room." He walked to the trunk where my mom was already taking our bags out. He grabbed my bag and said to follow him, which I did. We walked up the stairs to the guest room. "Here's your room, it's one of the best in the house." He hugged me tight. "Luke, you grew out of your awkward stage!" He laughed and rolled his eyes. "You always were so mean. Let's go back down and help your mom." I nodded in agreement and followed Luke back down the stairs and outside. I hugged Lilly and told her how pretty she was. She was really short. Shorter then I remembered. Well not exactly shorter then I remembered because the last time I saw her she was 7. Her hair was still her natural color but in an ombre. Luke's hair flipped up now and he has a lip ring, which I liked, and he was out of the polo and khakis phase. Now he wore black, tight skinny jeans and an All Time Low t-shirt. Maybe we're not so different. I actually listen to/enjoy to listening to them. After my mom and aunt "reconnected" we went inside. It was so awkward and weird sitting with all of them and talking like they actually know me. It's been nine years, they don't know me at all. "Hey guys, umm, I have a head ache so I'm going to go up to... The guest bedroom..." I couldn't say my room. I just couldn't. It's not "my room" and it will never be. "Oh sweetie, until you leave that's your room." Andrew said. I just smiled because I'm in no position to argue. "I'll get you an Advil." Lilly rushed up and pulled me to the kitchen with her. She ran over to the cabinet and pulled out a small bottle. "Here you go. Listen I'm really glad you came, it gets so boring here with just Luke and I and my parents won't let me do anything unless Luke's with me and he never wants to go with me to the mall or some of my friends parties and it's really annoying sometimes because he only does what he wants." I smiled, "We'll definitely have to do that sometime. Umm, where are your waters?" "In the fridge. Help yourself to whatever you want." She smiled and walked out. I opened the fridge. Their fridge. Not mine. I grabbed a water bottle and went upstairs. My room was cute. It has one of those little couch things by the window. I grabbed me ear phones and went to the couch. I looked out the window to the unfamiliar neighborhood. On the other side of the street was a really cute blue house. It was also two story but it was different from all the other houses. I went to grab my laptop from my bag and go on Tumblr. I sat back down an glanced quickly out the window at the house again but this time there was someone standing outside. He had brown hair with red in the front. He was... different... like Alice and I. I watched the boy as he walked to the mailbox and grabbed his mail. He's wearing the same shirt as me. Something about him seems cocky and obnoxious. He seems so different and not like other boys. I've never seen anyone so mysterious like, I can't figure him out by looking at him. I don't know if like him or absolutely hate him. He turned around to face the house. He looked at our car then looked up. At me. He smiled awkwardly and waved. Shocked I turned and tried to play it like I didn't see him even though I know he saw me. I feel so stupid. I looked back and his head was down and he was walking fast in embarrassment. I feel like such a bitch.
