We made our way down the halls, swiftly touching the buttons hidden in our watches, necklaces, bracelets, to transform them into knives, swords, and whips. Specially designed from the Gods, but also from our love and courage. Turning the corner, Monsters surrounded us, yelling in anger.

"What's up, guys? How's life going for you?" I smiled and waved, and they stopped for a second before continuing.

"Kill her! She killed our leader! We need to kill her!"

"She's just like those humans! Worthy to be eaten!"

"Don't you see her?! She's a Monster Hunter! If she can kill Madilyn without any struggle, we will be killed too!"

"We can overpower her! She's outnumbered!"

"Look beside her! 3 other people, we're the ones who are outnumbered if they are as strong as her!"

"Fight her anyway! An eye for an eye!"

"Yeah!"

They began to charge at us, transforming into the Monsters that they are. It was just like the stories, but worse. A vampire lunged towards me, his dark red eyes flashing at the same time his sharp fangs jutted out. I extended the knife that was hidden in my leaf necklace out. It was like a pocket knife, but bigger, sharper, and had an ingrained leaf at the end out it.

"You want to hear a story before you all die?!" I yelled out in anger, memories flashing in my head. My fellow Monster hunters glanced at me, concern overtaking their faces before going back to fighting. I cocked an eyebrow at the Vampire preying in front of me.

The Vampire smirked, "I guess I can give you a few last words."

I slashed forward right as the Vampire backed up, "Once upon a time there was a beautiful woman. Gorgeous long blonde hair, sea-green, a smile brighter than heaven itself. One day she fell in love with a handsome blue-eyed brown-haired man, a man who would do anything for her. That should have been the end of their story. And they lived happily
ever after!"

The Vampire had died, his body nothing but ashes, but I kept going, swinging at every Monster, continuing my story.

"But it wasn't. That was the time when the Monsters were prowling everywhere. So, being the best Monster Hunters ever, they had to do something about it." Five more
Monsters down, but I was too lost in the story that I didn't realize it. "The woman and man prayed to the Gods for help. The Gods gave them a seed to plant that would solve their problems, they had said to just take a leaf off of the tree when it grew fully. The tree began to grow, glowing a golden hue. However, it grew too slowly. Monsters kept on
killing humans and destroying the world. So, the man went to the underworld with many other men, to declare war. He loved his new wife dearly, that's why he was fighting. Needed to have a wonderful, harmless life with her. A life full of love and safety. He wanted his kids to grow up in a normal life, not threatened by evil. Yet, little did he know that his wife was pregnant with twins when he set off for his journey. 1 year later, no one came back, and
the world wasn't getting any better. The woman, in extreme heartache, ripped the leaves out of the tree in rage. She believed that the Gods had pranked her, that the tree was a
cruel joke, to give lesser creatures hope and then crush it. But the Gods hadn't given up on her or the world. They told her that it wasn't time, that the tree wasn't grown fully yet. That, 'For every time there is a season'. But this grieving woman wanted her love back, so she set out to find him. They never came back-"

I sobbed as I cut through the Monsters. "Because of you freaks! The children of the man and woman stayed with a family of four that loved them greatly. A few years after the children's mothers departure, they found the bodies of their dead Monster Hunters, on their front steps, including the man and woman. At the funeral, the Gods finally decided to talk. The twins were 5 years old, a boy and a girl. The Gods had taken
the ripped off dead leaves from under the tree and made a necklace and a bracelet out of them. The people thought it was mocking at first. Like 'hey, your most beloved died, here
are some dead leaves from the tree that kinda drove them to their deaths, oh! And guess what? You can wear them too Accessories anyone?'

However, they had taken the little girl and said, 'Little girl, these leaves are not just a piece of nature. They are a gift from the Gods. Aspen, shield. Many have waited for these to grow, they had become impatient, but either way, these were always meant for
you. When you touch these, they will show that you are the next hero, by glowing golden. Save the world, little girl, get revenge, and bring your loyal friends with you. You will know
when the time is right, you will understand and you will succeed. Because for every villain there is a hero, and good always overpowers evil. You are officially, Aspen Hunter, a prodigy.'"

In front of me was a bracelet, a black stone one, with an Aspen leaf on it. As I picked it up, it blazed, burning my hand. It was fully golden, my necklace matching it. I ignored the painful burn, held them both in the air, and let the darkness engulf me.
