I vaguely heard voices around me, yelling my name. Each time they repeated it, I pulled out of the darkness a little more.
"Aspen!"
I groaned, opening my eyes. I was leaned against a wall, my pink dress covered with dirt, a bracelet and a necklace in my fist. I uncurled my hand and it turned into ash, falling to the floor I was sitting on. A boy my age leaned towards me, his hazel golden eyes frantic, his curly brown hair in his face.
I smiled weakly, "Chill, Noah."
"Jesus Christ, Aspen. You scared us." He breathed, pulling me into a hug.
"Yeah, Yeah. Noah? I know you love my sister, but seriously, she almost died, and your face is the first thing she sees? Jesus, we want her to stay alive, not die of a heart attack."
Noah released me, showing me a clear view of my brother.
"A heart attack because of my perfectly beautiful face." Noah grinned.
My brother scoffed, his blue eyes crinkling with disbelief. "Yeah, that's it."
He turned to me, "Sup Weirdo."
I rolled my eyes as he squashed me in a hug, pulling me up from the floor.
"Sup Nerd."
He then punched me in the arm.
I reeled back, rubbing my arm. "What the heck, Asher?"
Asher pulled at his blonde hair. "What the heck, you! Never ever pull that stunt again!"
I scrunched my eyes in confusion, "What stunt?"
"Th-" He started to answer, but someone interrupted him.
"Oh, I don't know? Maybe the stunt where you," My best friend counted on her fingers. "First, go on a rampage of 'story and kill'. Then, the whole 'lets pick up a flaming accessory and become a human explosive?!"
"What do you mean?"
Valerie gave me a 'are you serious?' look. "The part where you become a ball of flame. Release heat waves that kill any Monster in sight, and crash into a wall."
I gaped, "So, you say I saved the world like a boss, and then crashed into a wall?"
I gasped for breath after laughing with them.
"That's one way to do it." Noah chuckled.
Asher smirked. "Sounds like Aspen."
"Wait. Does that mean there are no more Monsters?" I questioned.
Valerie shook her head, her brown hair swaying, her green eyes filled with some sadness and a lot of joy.
"No, there are still a few. But we can get them. The point is, we did it. Actually, you did it."
I looked around at my friends, "No, we did it. Without you guys, I wouldn't been able to. Like I said before, 'To be brave and courageous, you have to know how to love and
to be loved. To protect, you have to have someone to protect.'"We looped our arms through each others and started walking down the halls. As I looked down at my pink
dress, I scrunched my face up in distaste."Oh my God though, guys. Can we go home now? You know how much I hate pink."
THE END
Dear Peeps,
