"I'm not mad, Steve

"I'm not mad, Steve." You rolled your eyes as your boyfriend followed you down the hall of your apartment to the kitchen.

"Yes you are. I can clearly see it."

"I'm not. Drop it." You reached into the freezer for some ice cream. You grabbed a carton of chocolate before slamming the door closed.

"(Y/N)." Steve put a hand on your arm while you reached in a drawer to grab a spoon. You looked at his face, he was giving you the look. The one that always made you say what was on your mind even if you didn't want to. With a sigh, you closed the drawer roughly and dropped your spoon on the counter loudly. You turned and leaned your back against it with your arms crossed.

"I just wish you would have told me that you couldn't make it instead of leaving me there for an hour by myself." You were referring to the dinner date the two of you had planned at a restaurant down the street. You were supposed to meet at seven, but Steve never showed. "You could have called or texted or something so I wasn't sitting there waiting, not knowing when or if you were going to show up."

"I'm sorry, okay? I needed to be there for--."

"I get it," You interrupted. "You needed to be there for the team." You avoided looking at him and instead shook your head at the ground. "That's not why I'm upset."

"Then what is it?"

"I already told you." You threw your arms up in frustration. "I don't want to do this anymore. Can you just go?" You turned back towards the ice cream and grabbed it along with your spoon before leaving the kitchen. You decided to eat right out of the carton and ripped off the lid.

"No. I'm not leaving until I fix this. I don't want you to be upset with me." You walked into the living room and set your food on the coffee table. With a sigh, you turned to face Steve.

"Fine. Let's talk about it. Why didn't you tell me? It would have taken less than a minute of your time."

"It slipped my mind. I'm sorry."

"It 'slipped your mind'?" You narrowed your eyes. "Are you kidding me?"

"I've said I'm sorry a million times. How many times do I have to say it before you believe me?" He sounded angry.

"I'm sorry, are you getting mad at me?" You crossed your arms and narrowed your eyes even more.

"Yes, actually, a little." Steve raised his eyebrows. You let out a short laugh, not because anything was funny, but because you were shocked.

"It wasn't you that was left alone in the middle of a crowded restaurant. You didn't have to explain to the waiter for an hour that your date was on their way. You weren't looking at your phone every minute for a text or call that never came from the person you were supposed to meet. You didn't have to leave after not ordering anything and taking up a table for no reason other than to waste the time of everyone there. You didn't have to walk out of the restaurant while every single person sent you sympathetic looks after being stood up. So, you don't get to be angry with me." Your voice became more raised with every statement. He looked down at the ground, clearly feeling guilty, as you plopped yourself on the couch and picked up your dessert once more.

"Look," Steve started, but paused. He came over to sit beside you and before you could stand up to move away he put a hand on your thigh to stop you. You avoided his gaze, looking only at the sweet treat in your hands. You would have continued that way for a while if Steve hadn't grasped your chin and forced you to look at his face. "I'm really, really sorry that I stood you up. I should have told you that I wasn't going to make it. I know that I should have and I wish I had. I'm an idiot, but I'm an idiot that loves you and I'll do anything to make it up to you." It was hard not to forgive him instantly when you were looking into his amazing blue eyes, but you turned away before you were distracted by them.

"Not that easy." You shoved him off you and were about to stand up, but instead felt yourself being pulled over onto Steve's lap. He took your ice cream away and you gasped. "Hey!" You reached out for it, but he put it on the coffee table once more and encircled his arms around you, trapping your own against your sides. "Steve," You warned and tried to shake his arms off you.

"Maybe this will make you forgive me." He leaned his face down towards yours and connected your lips. You felt yourself melt into him instantly. It would be hard to stay mad at him after he kissed you like that. "I am really, truly, genuinely, completely sorry. Please forgive me." He said after finally pulling away.

You rolled your eyes and tried one last time to get out of his arms, but it was no use. "Fine, but only because if I don't I'm afraid I'll be stuck here with you forever."

"You're stuck here either way." He kissed your forehead as he hugged you tighter against his body, making you giggle. You were so close you could feel his muscles through his thin t-shirt.

"Steve." You groaned. "C'mon. I just want to eat my ice cream."

"Only if you share."

"Okay." He released you and the two of you watched movies and ate ice cream together for the rest of the night.
