All of us crowding the window excited
Looking down from above
Choosing each one with love
I was the smallest
I couldn’t see
But I looked up to him
And He said with a grin
“Child of mine, there is one you seek
For I have found one, but she is old and weak,
She needs your care, and an open heart,
She will go through a change you mustn’t keep apart,
I trust you with this task, for I love you more than you could imagine,
Your talents will be used with grace,
Your abilities will not keep you down,
For I, your God, am holding your crown,
When you return home, with a job well done,
You will see this woman, your mother, waiting with me.”
I looked over to the window
The other children were done
And there she was
My new mother
I promise I’ll make her a proud one
I slid down with ease on the flower of hope
Excited to meet her
And begin in my temporary home
