After the snap.

And after Thanos' death.

-------------

The pain is constant, his body trying to be put back together.

It never stopped.

It's been so long there, the endless orange.

The endless silence.

So long since he lived.

-------------

Then he's back.

He's back on Earth.

How, he doesn't know.

But he's there. And Tony is there.

And suddenly Peter's running. His legs feel like Jell-O, and his heart pounds in his ears.

Tony's calling his name. He's running too.

There's people everywhere, and it's loud, voices, and screaming, and yelling, and it's so loud after being stuck in silence, but he's so close, so close to reaching one of the only things he thought about, while trapped in a never ending orange haze of pain, for who knows how long that he somehow manages to block out all sound for a moment.

And in that moment, he crashes into Tony's arms.

Their knees hit the ground fast, and Peter's sure he's never held someone tighter in his life. He's crying, but he ignores the tears dripping down his cheeks, straining to hear the one voice he needed to hear.

“It's okay kid. I'm here. You're okay. It's over.”

Peter shakes his head softly, unable to speak.

Tony sighs, cupping Peter's face in his hands. “You're never, ever allowed to die again, you hear me?”

Though his words are sharp, there so many emotions in them, relief, sadness, joy, and others he can't name.

Peter doesn't respond, instead throwing himself back into his mentors arms.

Tony doesn't stop him.

“I'm sorry,” Peter mumbles. “So sorry.”

Sorry for doing the one thing Tony always told him not to do: die. Sorry because he knows that Tony probably blamed himself the entire time. Sorry for leaving.

Tony shakes his head softly as Peter rambles apologies, all while brushing the curls off his forehead.

“Please stop Pete. Please. Don't apologize. You didn't do this.”

Peter takes a shaky breath, clinging to Tony. “Neither did you.”

His words are surprisingly firm, making sure his words come across the way he means them.

“I missed you kid.” Tony admits after several seconds.

Peter smiles as more tears leak out. “I missed you too, Mr Stark.”

Tony smiles into his hair. “Tony. Call me Tony. I think you've earned the right.”

“Time to go home, Pete.” Tony says quietly after a minute.

Still, they don't move right away.

Peter lets himself be held, relishing in the feeling of safety.

After all, he is home.
