Another long oneshot.
Almost 4k words.
Is the wait for longer chapters worth it?😋
Anyway.
This is set after endgame, no one is dead. Tony snapped, but survived cause all the avengers held hands in a 'guardians' move.
Penny is Tony's bio kid, and was taken in by Tony at twelve, when her aunt and uncle died.
So.
Kinda different from my other oneshots, cause- well- *sigh*
You'll see.
They were at the mall.
Morgan was trailing behind Pepper and Tony, while Penny stayed several feet back, headphones shoved into her ears, blasting music.
"Penny! Penny!" Morgan bounced towards her, holding up a pink haired doll. "She looks like you!"
The teen rolled her eyes. "I only have one pink streak. I don't look like a piece of bubblegum threw up on me."
The little girl frowned. "But she's pretty like you."
"I look like a piece of plastic." Penny deadpanned. "Great."
"Penny, behave." Tony looked tired as he glanced between the pair; he was only half-paying attention, not noticing as his daughter slowly began to seethe. “Don't talk to your little sister like that.”
"She isn't my sister," Penny said blankly. "She's your daughter."
“Penny,” her Dad gave her a furious look as Morgan began to fully cry, attracting attention from the people walking around them. She was bawling into Pepper’s shoulder, the woman having knelt down to try and calm her daughter. “Apologize to Morgan, and go to the car. I'm checking out, and then we're going home. We need to have a serious discussion.”
Resentment coursed through Penny's veins as she stared down at the crying girl on the floor.
“Sorry." She could tell that he knew the apology was insincere.
He was at the car ten minutes later, leaning against the front beside where she sat.
Tony huffed, turning to give the teen a look. “Alright Penny, I was going to do this as subtly as possible but you’ve pulled hand. What’s going on?”
Peter rolled her eyes, looking back at Tony’s worried expression. “Nothing. Nothing at all.”
“You’ve been distancing yourself Penny, don’t think we haven’t noticed.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Penny,” Tony spoke harsher than he would’ve liked. “Don’t pull this crap. I have another kid too, who is currently sobbing her heart out because of what you said. I don’t need the stress of dealing with you too. Just tell me what’s up.”
“I’m sorry I'm such a bother,” Penny kept her eyes trained on the phone in her hand.
“You know that isn’t what I meant,” Tony sighed, rubbing his face.
“It doesn’t really matter what you meant,” Penny picked up her bag in preparation to leave. Tony grabbed her wrist.
“Let me go.” Penny stared at the ground, unwilling to look him in the face.
“I’ll let you go when you talk to me Pen. If something is bothering you, you need to tell me kid.”
“Nothing is bothering me!”
