Vanya's POV

The crunch of gravel could be heard as the car slowly came to a stop, standing on the sidewalk looking at the haunted looking building I swallowed. This place had been my home for so long, but now it was like walking into a strangers house. After 17 years you would have thought I would miss this place, but my stomach filled with cramps even thinking about knocking on the door.

Forcing my legs to move I walked up the stairs. Unable to make the decision on knocking or opening the door I waited a minute. Finally making the decision to walk in I grabbed the cold handle. The door screeched as I pushed it open. My eyes darted around the room looking for changes, but everything was the same from the last time I had been here.

My eyes led to where mom had been sitting, she hadn't even looked in the direction of the door or me.

"Vanya?" Allison's voice was clear. "You're actually here." Not knowing how to take her comment I watched her for a second. She looked amazing, all grown up.

"Hey Allison." My voice came out shy. It had been years since I had seen any of my siblings. And for good reasons too.

"Hey sis." She walked towards me stopping for a second but finishing with a hug.

"Huh, what is she doing here? You don't belong here, not after what you did." An angry voice filled the room. Diego walked past the two of us.

"You're seriously going to do this today?" Allison held anger in her voice. "Way to dress for the occasion by the way." She shot.

"At least I'm wearing black." Diego walked up the stairs not even turning to look at us.

I started to feel even worse for showing up. "You know what, maybe he's right-" I started but was cut off.

"Forget about him, I'm glad your here." My sister and I stood together not knowing what else to say.

Time skip

The whole family sat not knowing who should speak first. Diego watched the fire, Allison sipped her drink, Klaus raided our dads alcohol, Luther looked at his hands, and I sat looking at the floor. "Um, I guess we should get this started. So I figured we could have some sort of memorial service, in the courtyard at sundown. Say a few words, just in dad's favourite spot." Luther planned.

"Dad had a favourite spot?" Allison asked.

"Yeah you know? Under the oak tree. We used to sit out there all the time. None of you ever did that?" Our faces were blank and some even annoyed.

"Will there be refreshments? Tea, scones, cucumber sandwiches are always a win." Klaus walked in with his drink and cigar.

"Is that my skirt?" Allison asked Klaus.

"What? Oh! Yeah this, I found it in your room. It's a little dated I know, but it's very breathy on the bits" Klaus stood in the middle of the room now.

"Listen up, there's still some important things we need to discuss alright?" Luther was being serious.

"Like what?" Diego finally chimed in.

"Like the way he died." Luther sounded deadly serious.

"And here we go" Diego's head dropped while he rolled his eyes. Klaus plopped down beside me.
