Ethan's P.O.V.I walk back with a blank face and pull out my papers and place them on the table and start discussing layout, costs and time limits, not looking up once to meet his eyes until it was time to leave. His eyes seem to be gazing deeply into mine as if challenging me to keep looking into them. I don't look down even once, making sure that he knows that I'm not going to back down before turning towards the exit and walking to the door. I quickly climb into the car with Mathew in the drivers seat. "Lets go home please", I mumble weakly as he pulls away and I lay my head back on the seat, feeling my energy finally leave my body.
Clearly running on two cups of coffee for a day wasn't a good idea. I felt the car pull to a stop and I felt Mathew pick me up gently and I curled up into his chest. He was my safety blanket and I found comfort in his warmth. He lay me slowly on my bed and raised the blanket to my chin before stepping away slowly. He quietly walked out of the bedroom and shut the door as my half conscious state let me drift into a deep sleep.
When I opened my eyes again it was quite late at night and I headed downstairs to find Mathew, the winter cold causing me to shiver. I called out slowly for Mathew as I headed towards the CPO's section and found him sitting at his couch with a beer bottle, watching T.V . I quickly walk up to him and sit down right beside him as he pulls me up to his warm figure. I could feel my body relaxing at his touch and I let my eyes close as he pulled me into his lap.
Mathew may seem like a hard person but he is the softest man you will ever meet. He knew me before my life got wrecked and was with me all through my bad times. My closeness with him may seem sexual to an outsider but we both know that being together through our roughest times caused us to spend our sleepless nights in each others arms, letting the others breaths slowly calm us down. He was the only family I had left and I would never let him go.
I slowly open my eyes to watch what he was watching and he noticed my movement.
"You haven't had anything to eat all day except, 2 mugs of coffee and 2 cigarettes, that's probably why you are feeling so low. Lets get you something to eat, ok?"I don't even flinch when I realize that he knows that I smoked, it really is no surprise. Before i can even answer, he picks me up and walks to the kitchen, and puts me down on one of the seats before pulling out some stuff from the fridge as I lay my head on the counter.
A few minutes later he placed an omelet in front of me with a piece of toast and a fork. I slowly pick up the fork, picking at the food since I still don't feel like eating. I slowly let the fork slip out of my hand as i push the plate away and lay my head down again but almost immediately Mathew pushes the plate towards me, about to pick up the fork as the bell rings. He sighs before he heads towards the front door and I hear some voices and then the door slams shut and he walks in again silently.
I feel someone tap my shoulder and I look up to see Mathew looking down at me, I raise a brow silently asking who it was and he nods to someone right behind me. My head quickly snaps to the side as I see Leslie Jordan standing right there nonchalantly with his hands in his pockets. I quickly stand up, blanking my emotions and pushing my hair out of my face. "What are you doing here?" I say, my voice cold and detached. Before he can answer, I turn to Mathew with a raised brow.
"He said that he wanted to give you some papers, so I told him to give them to me but he insisted on meeting you so I patted him down and here we are." I nod quickly and turn back to Leslie with my arm extended towards him. "I also had to discuss something with you." He said."Is this a bad time?" I open my mouth to answer but Mathew steps in front of me, " I'll lead you to a meeting room and Mr García will meet you after he has had his meal" he finished, turning to me with a hard glare forcing me turn to the table. I hear the two of them leave the room and head to the fridge and pull out some juice. I fill half a glass and quickly pull out some vodka from behind me and top up the glass right up to the brim. I place the glass to my lips and quickly gulp down large sips and finish the glass just as Mathew walks in. I place the glass in the sink and sit down at the counter as he walks up to me. "If you don't want to keep him waiting, finish your food."
