I'm going through all my biology work from freshman year that I had worked on with Dunbar, when Rowan calls for me.

"Armani!" I gather all the papers and laptop before putting them away. I groan as I get up and walk across the hall and into Rowan's room.

"You yelled." I walk in, closing the door behind me.

Rowan sighs, "I was thinking the three of us should hang out but Elisia's busy with Ash, why don't the two of us do something."

I kneel down next to her and see she has her yearbook out, which means she's obsessing again, like me.

I sigh, "Yeah, but what." I stay quiet and think about Dunbar, "I haven't found anything new and I don't really remember much from that year."

"You sure you didn't take pills?" Rowan playfully asks.

I shake my head, "No, it's just after my dad... I just can't remember."

There's a knock on the door and we both scramble to hide the book before one of our parents see it.

The door opens to reveal Mark, "Taking off."

"Okay, good night." Rowan quickly said wanting to get rid of him.

"Both-both of you?" I ask, the last three months either mom stayed the night or Mark, or they both worked day shifts.

He nods, "Is everything okay?" He asks opening the door more before he walks in.

"Yeah." Rowan said.

"Great." I add.

"Nothing's changed in the last ten minutes." Rowan stated slightly annoyed.

He stands there for a minute and looks around the room before sighing reluctantly, "Okay." He says before he leaves the room.

Rowan lays back down and opens the yearbook to the page that has Dunbar's picture and all the notes he gave her, her schedule and one of the assignments that I did with him.

I groan in frustration, "It's driving me crazy..." I'm cut off when there's another knock on the door but this time it's my mom.

"Everything alright in here?" Mom asks concerned about us.

I groan before nodding, "Same answer as last time, yes we're fine, we're good."

"What's driving you crazy?" Mom worriedly asks.

I roll my eyes at her, "Helicopter parents, that's what's driving me crazy. I'm fine, Rowan are you fine?" She nods and I turn back to my mom, "See she's fine. And I'm even seeing a therapist because Hailey told you I was suicidal, which I'm not."

Mom sighs, "Hailey told us you told that boy to shoot you, that is the definition of suicidal."

I laugh sarcastically, "That's funny, you're going to take an addicts word over mine. The only reason why I was saying that was to get the gun away from Rowan because he was pointing it at her. He was obsessed with her. I was just trying to deescalate the situation." I said justifying my actions.

She sighs in defeat, "Well it was reckless. We're going to work now."

"Yeah, I know Mark told us." I said.

"Are you girls fine being on your own because if your not I can stay." Mom offered.

"We're fine, Blake." Rowan said with a smile

"Yeah, since Rowan's not suicidal she'll make sure I don't break into the gun safe and shoot myself in the head and die." I say mockingly and they both look at me like I've lost my mind, "What it's a joke, too soon for dark humor?"
