As I walked back to the dorms I thought a lot about what the guy from the coffee shop said and I wonder why he would want to change my mind but then I thought to myself why would I care if he wanted to change my mind about me having a boyfriend. I was perfectly happy with the way my life was and how it was going to be after I finished college and no man wanted to deal with a 6 year old child.
"Hey Lillian how was your dinner with Finn?" i asked walking into the dorm
"It was good" She said
"What's wrong?" I asked sitting on my bed she looked over at me and I could tell she was sad and angry
"Finn wants to see other people. She paused for a second before continuing I gave him three years of my life and he now wants to see new people isn't that just a load of bulllshit" She said looking at me
"Maybe this will be good for you guys in the long run like maybe this is what you guys need some space and time apart" I said
"How can you just say that you're suppose to be on my side of things" She said
"I'm on your side Lils but you and Finn aren't okay and maybe this is what you need" I said looking at her she looked at me and sighed
"I know i think I just need some alone time imma just go for a walk" She said she got up and put on her running shoes and left I sighed and grabbed my phone and called my grandparents
"Hello" Emmy answered
"Hi princess" I said
"HI mommy" she said laughing
"How are you?" I asked
"I'm okay" She said
"Where's poppy?" I asked
"He is in the kitchen with nana" She said
"How was school?" I asked
"It was good Emery is in my class this year and her mommy said i could sleepover" She said
"I'll tell Nana to let you go" I said
"When will I see you again?" She asked i could hear the sadness in her voice
"Soon princess soon" I said
"Nana wants the phone" She said
"I love you" I said
"I love you too" She said I heard shuffling and then my grandma tell Emmy to get ready for a bath
"How are you Jean?" she asked
"I'm okay" I said
"Emmy was asking about you so I let her answer the phone so she could talk to you" She said
"Thanks I needed to hear her voice" I said
"You'll see her soon" She said
"I know but it's so hard leaving her I'm missing out on everything" I said a tear slipped down my cheek and I quickly wiped it off
"Have you giving any thought to getting yourself an apartment once you graduate?" she asked
"Yeah i need money for that and I don't have it right now" I said
"We told you we'd help you get an apartment" She said
"I know you guys would help but I'm trying to be my own person and I can't do that if you guys continue to help me" I said
"Just let us help you with this one thing and we will only help you if you ask for our help" She said
"I love you guys" I said
"We love you too Jean" She said
"Are you guys coming to my graduation?" I asked
"Yes we've already bought our plane tickets and we got Emmy her passport with the money you had sent us" She said
"I hope that I'll see Emmy before the graduation" I said
"Well our flight is on the 13th and the graduation is on the 21st so you can cme by the hotel whenever you want" She said
"Maybe Emmy can stay with me in the dorms for a night" I said
"That's a good idea" She said
"I'll think about the apartment" I said
"We have money saved up to help you" She said
"I'll call you guys tomorrow" I said we said our goodbyes and I hung up
Lillian came back around 10pm while i was rewatching an episode of friends
"I saw FInn with another girl" she said laying besides me on my bed
"That was fast" I said
"Yeah it was" She said
"Are you okay?" I asked
"No not really" She said I put my laptop to the side and got up
"C'mon we are going out" I said
"It's a school night" She said
"Who cares let's go" I said she sighed and got up
"Where are we going?" she asked
"Wherever there is booze and guys" I said she looked up and smiled. After getting ready and texting a couple different people we found a party at a frat house near campus so we left
"This is so unlike you" She said
"I know but I hate to see you upset" I said as we were walking to the frat house I spotted a familiar face the guy from the coffee shop we walked past him on our way in and he smiled at me
"Let's go get wasted" She said i laughed at her improved mood and let her lead the way to the booze
