Daoming Si was gazing out the window when he saw Shancai walking up the path to his house. He saw Thomas waiting for her at the gate, and while he felt a surge of jealousy coursing through him, he was glad that she hadn't been wandering the city alone.

He had hoped that she would come for him, but worried that she wouldn't. After all, anytime he had mentioned London in the past, she always had excuses like she didn't like Western food or how London was so foreign to her. The fact that she was here now meant that she was ready to face her fears, that she was ready to be with him. Seeing her walk up the steps to the front door gave him the strength that he needed to end all of this, once and for all.

The knock on his door came quicker than he expected. "Come in," he called quietly, and the door opened to reveal Shancai standing in the doorway. He walked slowly to stand in front of her. "Why are you here?" he asked seriously. She looked up at him, filled with determination. "I'm here for you," she declared. They stared into one another's eyes, and Daoming Si felt as though she was transferring her strength and courage to him. No matter what his mother said or did, there was no denying that he and Shancai were meant to be together, and they had to fight for their love together. He nodded and grabbed her hand. "Let's go," he said, and together they broke into a run.

They ran down the hallway, down the stairs, past a beaming Mrs. Yu, and out the front door. They passed Thomas by the gate and he clapped for them. They ran down the path, along the countryside, until they finally reached the city. It was only when they found themselves downtown that they stopped, panting, leaning on to each other for support. "So," Shancai said as she gasped for air, "What do we do now?" Daoming Si took a deep breath then grinned at her. "Anything we want. We're free!" They beamed at each other like children, and hand-in-hand they explored the city together. They took in the sights just like tourists, chased after the pigeons, ate ice cream in the park-- anyone that saw them would've seen a couple in love, exploring a new place together.

It was nighttime when Daoming Si realized, they had no place to stay. Reaching for his phone, he dialed a familiar number. "I assume you're together now," the voice said, and he smiled. Lei always had his back. "Yes," he confirmed, and he could practically see the smile on Lei's face. "Good. I've made arrangements for you both. Thomas has your train tickets, you should go to him as the last train leaves at midnight. And don't worry, I took care of her," Lei said, and Daoming Si switched off the phone. "Let's go," he said to Shancai, grabbing her hand.

They found Thomas at his apartment, and soon, Daoming Si and Shancai were on a train together. "Where are we going?" Shancai asked as she snuggled up to his side and watched the city lights zoom past them. "It doesn't matter. All that matters is I'm with you, forever," he replied, giving her a kiss on the head. She smiled up at him and snuggled closer, allowing herself to relax by his side. Daoming Si leaned back and looked out the window, staring at the sky, excited for a new tomorrow.
