The students wait patiently in their seats for the last bell to ring, signifying that they could go home. With every passing second, the clock ticks. A repeated tick that both the students and the teachers absolutely dread. Finally, as the second-hand reaches the twelve, the bell rings. All the students jump up and out of their chairs and race to the hallway where they can get their book bags and go home.
Right now, however, we take a closer look at two girls walking toward the front doors at the front of their school.
"Can you believe that Mr. Singer gave me a 70% on my research paper? I worked so hard on it." The brown-haired girl named Maggie says with a dramatic gesture of her hands.
The other girl, slightly shorter and with blonde hair, looks at her and rolls her eyes. "You barely did any work, Mag. You literally copy and pasted the entire thing and then switched around a few words."
"Yeah, but it took so much work." Maggie wines.
Her best friend just rolls her eyes again with a sigh, "You're weird."
"No, you're weird." Maggie playfully shoves the other with her shoulder. The two finally make it out of the school and to the spot where they would go their separate ways home.
"See ya later, Katelyn." Maggie smiles and does a little wave. The other chuckles and gives her own little wave, "Bye." Maggie walks away from Katelyn and the latter stands there alone.
It's a cool, overcast, September day in Los Angeles, California where the two girls live. Katelyn wears a white, long sleeve button-up shirt with light blue skinny jeans. Her purple and blue patterned backpack hangs off of one of her shoulders.
The small girl starts to walk home, which is about a 5-minute walk from the school; not that long compared to other people.
Katelyn walks down the sidewalk, kicking dead leaves and stones that lay in her path. A few minutes pass before she finally makes it to the small field that she would cut across to reach the other side where her house was located.
She walks through the small pasture, absentmindedly looking around at all the trees and bushes that complement the scenery.
Katelyn makes it about halfway through the field before she hears a loud noise, the snap of a twig, behind her. She stops in her tracks, looks up from the ground, and glances over her shoulder. She sees nothing so the blonde turns back around, shrugs, and continues her path.
Not even a few seconds pass by before she hears another noise, this one louder and closer than the last time. She quickly turns around but this time is met with a person wearing a ruby-red robe, a hood masking their face. Before Katelyn could react, the figure hits her on the top of the head and knocks her out cold.
The figure picks the small girl up bridal style and carries her away into the forest, leaving no trace of what they had done behind.
