Daniel's POV

Vanille stays silent for a moment. She is-

Blushing?

She opens her mouth to speak...

"I-I want to l-live with you. C-can we be housemates?" She says, playing with her fingers. I notice she is nervous.

The question catches me off guard.

What? We've only known each other for some days now.

But- I feel something towards her...

Maybe it's okay to let her be my housemate. Besides, she lives alone too so we can be together and accompany each other all the time.

I stay quiet.

"It's okay if you don't want, Arashi," She says. She is embarrassed. I know because of her blushing and her sweating.

"It's fine. But why?" I ask. I want to know her reasons.

"I want to be around you. I didn't have a friend before and living alone is somewhat painful," She says, looking down and playing with her fingers again.

"It's okay. We can live together," I say, looking at her with a warm smile. She smiles as well.

Our coffees arrive just in time. We begin to drink as we talk.

"Thank you for treating me. I could've paid for you but since you dragged me out of the house I guess we're fine," I say. She laughs.

"It's nothing."

I begin to think for a while. Something has been in my thoughts after she asked me to live with me.

How am I supposed to ask this? I can't step into her life like this but I need to know- Why is she alone?

"Hey," I break the silence. "W-why do you live alone?" I ask, nervous.

Vanille's eyes widen. I begin to regret my actions. She looks down as I notice the pain in her eyes.

What have I done?

I begin to panic.

"My parents. They died," She says, putting her coffee down on the table.

Oh, God...

"I-i'm sorry. I didn't-"

Vanille cuts me off.

"It's okay," She says. She has a gentle smile on her face, but I can see the pain in her eyes. It makes me feel horrible.

"I'm so sorry. We can live together. Don't worry about anything, not even paying a single penny," I say, trying to calm her down. I see a tear drop from her face as she lowers her head, again.
