The heavy steps of the MC echoed through the halls of St. Thomas as Jax rushed his blood covers sneakers forward, followed closely behind by his distraught mother and the entire club. He was focused on one thing and one thing only; to get to Scarlet as quickly as possible. He needed to see her, needed to be told she was in fact still alive. His heart ached with the thought that they could possibly tell him what he was dreading from the time the metal fragments entered her flesh. His mind raced over a thousand scenarios as they rushed through the streets of Charming on their way to that hospital. If his ol' lady didn't pull through this, he was afraid they would be putting him in the cold, dark earth with her.

The images of her blood covered body, shot and wounded lying on the cold pavement in the middle of Teller-Morrow wouldn't leave his head. What was supposed to have been a calm, mostly peaceful day had turned into complete and utter mayhem. His heart pounded against his chest, his heartbeat thumped in his ears as the scene replayed over and over like a bad action movie. Rushing through the halls of the local hospital to reach the ER, Jax clutched his head with his blood stained hands as he saw the janitor mopping up the trail of fresh blood on the linoleum. A cold chill ran through his entire core at the sight, trying to ignore the gnawing feeling that he was in fact too late.

"Scarlet Delaney..where is she?!" Jax demanded as he moved swiftly to the nurses station. The concern on his face was evident as the petite brunette's eyes widened from behind the desk filled with paperwork and file folders of other medical emergencies throughout the day. He knew the girl, Jax had gone to highschool with her but there wasn't a chance in that moment he could recall her goddamn name.

"They just took her to surgery Mr. Teller." The young nurse called Jax by his formal title even though he hated the sound of it. He wasn't proper in any way and he sure as hell wasn't his father even though he knew JT would have hated that shit too. But in the situation they could have called him the fuckin Pope, he really didn't give two shits as long as it gave him the information he needed on his ol' lady and unborn son.

"Jesus Christ...she's still...still.." Jax stuttered over his words, not able to get them out even though the news of her being in surgery confirmed what he wanted to know. Scarlet was still alive. Maybe barely but she was indeed hanging on. He should have known, she wasn't the kind he pictured as a quitter. She was a fighter, she had fought her whole goddamn life from what they had discussed about her past. She wasn't going to leave him. In that moment he truly felt someone upstairs, whether it was his old man, Otto or Christ himself, had heard his silent and not so silent prayers to not let Scarlet leave him to live in a world without her.

"She's alive Jax.." The brunette with the name tag Sara, smiled over at him reassuringly even though she really had no assessment of the entire situation. Moving out from behind the overly large workspace Sara led them across the hall to one of their private family rooms. Gemma's aged hand clutched her son's forearm in thankfulness of the news they were just given but Jax knew there was no reason for any goddamn celebrating yet. "Here..you'll be more comfortable while you wait."

Jax forced a half hearted smile in appreciation as they filed into the small room. It was quaint; light beige walls, flowers resting in a vase on the one corner table, magazines and booklets laid out precisely on a small round table in the middle of the room surrounded by high back arm chairs with a light pink striped pattern. Definitely not a biker's taste for decorating but wasn't like they were at the damn clubhouse even if St. Thomas was becoming close to a second home.

His large fatigued body fell back into the sofa that ran the span of one wall, leaning forward his face found his hands as his elbows rested on his knees. He hadn't looked but he knew his mother had taken a seat beside him, rubbing his leg to try to comfort him in any way she could. They were the only ones that sat. The rest of the MC paced and roamed the halls just outside the room, coming in and out to check on their president as they waited for news on Scarlet and the baby she was carrying.
