(Rose's POV)
"This is my new home?" I blinked as I stared at the small cabin. The woman nodded as she walked towards it with both hands stuffed into her pockets.
"Well, it's technically temporary, but in a way.. yes." She led me towards the wooden door, opening it. She let me in first, and I was almost in awe at the sight. It's exactly what you would have imagined in what you would see in the movies. Well.. Not the horror movie ones. Hopefully.
My hand brushed against a strangely big couch, and my eyes stared down at the soft, red carpet. I wouldn't mind living here for a while, but I had to remember that this stranger was probably going to stay here with me. Until then, I had to get comfortable.
Flopping down onto the enormous couch, I sprawled out onto it. "Ah.. I think I like it here." The bounty hunter walked by with a smile before stopping in front of me. "Oh.. By the way, why is everything super sized in here? For a small cabin, I don't think that it's wise that we have a bunch of stuff here."
She didn't answer me right away as it looked like she was in thought. Was there something wrong with what I said? I mean, let's be honest. If she lived here originally and just setting this up as a temporary home for people that she's saved, I don't think she needs everything to be huge.
"Well, you see. I don't want you to freak out, but there is someone else here." She muttered, looking as if she was struggling to find the right words. I only raised an eyebrow. "Not a person. Another monster. Actually, my partner, that I work with, to help these investigations."
Now, I would have obviously been shocked in this very moment. That would be the case if I was still unaware of the strange world of the monsters. I only had a quick glimpse of what they gave me, and I didn't care too much if they were considered good or bad. They were the same as a human, just with different features.
"Oh.. I certainly didn't expect a bounty hunter to have a monster help them on missions." I sat up from the couch.
"Well, I have to warn you. She's kinda inten--"
"Iris, honey! You're home already!" A giant snake woman bursted from another room, almost frightening me. My eyes widened at the sight of her. Her scales were a gorgeous violet, shining in the light. Her tail had to be longer than me, making me gulp hard. Long, platinum hair came down to her waist, curling at the bottom.
The Lamia's bright, violet eyes turned to me, making me shake at the sight. Even if she was showing me a friendly smile, I was uncertain. "Oh, who is this, Iris?" She tilted her head, innocently.
"This is Rose Chen. The recent survivor from a monster mob." My light eyes trailed to the Bounty Hunter, Iris. "It was almost embarrassing to tell how I had to find this girl." Her brown eyes turned their attention on me as her arms crossed.
"Ooo! Well, it's nice to meet you, and welcome to your new temporary home!" The Lamia greeted me, taking both of my hands in hers. They were surprisingly warm. "My name is Athena, and I am a Lamia."
Iris let out a long sigh as she stared at Athena. "She can be very hyper at times, but that is something that you'll get used to after some time." The tall woman grimaced as Athena was admiring my long hair. "Anyway, do you wanna check out your room?"
My eyes darted from Athena to Iris, and I nodded. Maybe it was a good idea now if I wanted to know the place.
"Can I come? Can I? Can I, Iris?" The violet Lamia slithered towards the Bounty Hunter, making her groan.
"Fine."
"Yay! House tour!"
A small smile grew on my face as I watched those two interact. They must have known each other for a long time. Though, they act like complete opposites. Iris is calm and collected while Athena is hyper and possibly childish. It's kinda cute.
