The night was warm, and we rode lots of carnival rides, played some games and headed back to my house, the whole time we were driving back I wanted to tell Bridger about the OSF... but I just couldn't seem to get the words out. I wanted to share with him, but this seemed like something I shouldn't share, until I knew what was happening, who I was meeting, and what was going on. We had small talk that carried us through the lengthy drive to my house, he opened my door and let me out, walked me up to the door and wrapped his arms around my waist. I stood on my tip toes and wrapped my own arms around his neck. We looked into each others eyes. "Thank you for tonight, It was truly fantastic, Bridge." a sly smile crossed his lips and he leaned in and brushed his lips softly against mine. I kissed him back.
We both pulled away smiling brightly. "Only the best for you." he kissed my forehead. My cheeks grew hot. I giggled. "I love you, baby." he said his honey eyes blazing. "I have a question?" I started back at him just as intensely, "hmm?" He swallowed hard and said, "will you be my girlfriend?" I laughed and said "of course!" I hugged him tighter. He kissed me again. "Let me know when you get home?" I asked. "Of course." He kissed me one last time and turned to walk back to his car. I turned toward my house door, my fingers fumbling with the lock. Happiness was engulfing me.
I tried to enter the house quitely, so as to not wake up my siblings and possibly my mom. I shut the door softly, and was greeted happily by my over enthusiastic husky. He bounded forward and jumped up on me and began to lick me and nudge me with his huge cold nose. I smiled down at him and gave him a scratch behind his ears. His tail was wagging back and forth, he was the cutest boy. I decided that I needed to sleep. I had a lot to do tomorrow. I was finally going to have answers. That is what I wanted and I intended to get them.
I walked up to my room and quickly washed my makeup off, took off my clothes and switched to a loose fitting tee. I pulled out my shaver and did several lines of my Xanax to knock me out. The waves of calm washed over me and I felt the peace wash over me. I crawled into bed. I slowly fell asleep, slipping into another nightmare.
I was laying on the hard floor in the basement room, my body was aching, I was alone. They had taken Bridger, I laid there trying to collect myself, my body was in shock, and I was freezing. The floor was as cold as ice. My body was shivering and I just wanted to die. I just wanted them to end it. To get me out of this. I just wanted it to be over. After what felt like hours, the door banged open. I scooted away from the door as far as I could, terrified they were going to take me again. The henchman slung Bridger back into the room and slammed it behind him. Bridger looked so pale, his lip and head were bleeding slowly, a huge purple knot forming above his left eye. My heart ached for him. He was quietly sobbing. I wasn't sure what to do...
I scooted back towards him and wrapped my arms around him and he laid his head on me and just shook with waves of sobs and hyperventilating. He was completely broken. I patted his back and tried to calm myself for both of our sakes. He was absolutely pitiful. He didn't speak but slowly his sobs began to slow and his breathing steadied. He eventually fell asleep, and at some point I must have slipped off too.
My phone buzzed and woke me, I opened my eyes and looked around bleary eyed. I kept my eyes closed for a few minutes before reaching over to my phone. It was a text message from that strange number. "See you this evening" was all it said. I swallowed hard and tried not to panic. I had to know, and I would know.
